Here he is right after getting the splint off - he is woozy so his angulation is exaggerated a bit. This was last Wednesday. Here he was last night!

Right leg basically 100% good - left leg we are on a 50/50 shot. Of course, there is an indepth surgery he can get for about 2 grand that will fix it, but I can wait until he is closer to 6 months to decide if that is needed.
I'm praying for the good 50%!

Baby had his second trim on Tuesday and boy did the farrier have to work for it! We tried outside of the stall in the barn aisle, but baby was trying to jump out and we were afraid he was going to get hurt so we moved to the paddock attached to the stall.
First - Dancey pretended that she had never had to stand for a farrier before. She pushed, pulled, walked off, and was basically a poor mannered brat. To top that off, baby thought he was in a rodeo and he was running full speed circles around us, bucking snorting climbing on mom, rearing, sliding stop and more.
I must say he looked very impressive but it was not the ideal time for his antics. I can't really blame him since he has been cooped up in the stall for so long. We literally had 3 adults and 2 kids trying to get the trimming done without loss of life or limb!
After mom, it was time for kid. I first haltered him which was a breeze, he is great with that, but he immediately took off running and rearing for another good 5 minutes with the halter and lead rope before he calmed down enough to try and hold. Again, it was three adults and lots of sweat before he was done. I finally got smart and just held my arms around his neck...he's so used to getting hugged on and loved on that he would just stand for that. We ended with just one good forward step on the lead line before I let him off - his day had already had a lot of work in it!
The farrier was amazed at the change in his legs and his left looks even better after the trim than before. He has lost almost all angulation in the ankle joint! YIPEE! Hope he can get off stall rest soon!

Wow, that is such an improvement. Actually, his leg looks normal now to me. I bet that makes that expensive surgery on a foal you never planned to have ALL worth it!
