I would vote more for the last weekend in June. The other weekends are holiday weekends (Fourth of July and Labor Day), and most people would have other plans I would think.

Tacoma Unit is about as well-known and central (to WA and OR) as you can get. Human accommodations (near South Hill mall) and horse accommodations are good. And the haul-in and trailer area is HUGE. Hookups available for RVs and not near a major highway, but the Air Force base has plane traffic occasionally. Can you tell what I vote for?

What are everybody's thoughts about expanding this to a two-day show?

A 2-day show would be awesome........then I guess we would need stalls! B-trails doesn't have those.
We should have....JUMPING CLASSES!!

Lots of people are interested in schooling shows with over-fences classes. I'd vote for that as well. You have to find out where you can jumps from, though, unless the Unit rents them.

I'm torn on the two day show. On the one hand, that would imply it would make it a little easier and less hectic on us (meaning the ones behind the scenes running stuff), but on the other hand, I think....wow, with that much time, we'd probably try to cram all kinds of stuff into the show!
I do think it would be a great idea, but it would need to be like a half day on Sunday or something to give me time to get back across the mountains and ready for work on Monday.

Yes, a half day on Sunday sounds good. Well, you could just run some o/f classes in the morning and then tie things up. That would also be attractive to trainers just wanting to haul in and school green horses/kids and not blow the whole day.
I'd do something like this. I have always found that the low classes have the greatest # of entries because a lot of people will try to do it at 18" that won't try it at 2'3 or 2'6. So it's worth it to offer a lot of low stuff!
1. Hunter over ground poles, trot or canter (not to show higher than x's) 2. Equitation over ground poles, trot or canter (not to show higher than x's) 3. Hunter over x's (trotting changes permitted, may not show in higher classes) 4. Equitation over x's (trotting changes permitted, may not show in higher classes) 5. Warm Up Hunter over fences, 18" (open to all riders and horses) 6. Green Hunter over fences, 18" (Horse in first year of showing o/f) 7. Beginner Rider Hunter over fences, 18" (Rider in first year of showing o/f) 8. Beginner Rider Equitation over fences, 18" (Rider in first year of showing o/f) 9. Small and Medium Pony Hunter over fences, 18" 10. Low Rescue Horse Hunter over fences, 18" 11. Large Pony Hunter over fences, 18" - 2' 12. Low Hunter over fences, 2' - 2'3 13. Low Equitation over fences, 2' - 2'3 14. Open Rescue Horse Hunter over fences, 2'3 - 2'6 15. Open Hunter over fences, 2'3 - 2'6 16. Open Hunter over fences, 2'3 - 2'6 17. Open Equitaiton over fences, 2'3 - 2'6 18. Open Equitation over fences, 2'3 - 2'6
You could add a jumper class or two on the end if it seems like you have enough interest, but like I say, it's just my experience that people are mostly looking for low, schooling type classes for green horses and green riders.

Can we have hunter hack classes too? Where it is like an EQ class, then everyone does a pattern with a few jumps, and a hand gallop?

So, in somewhat unrelated news **please** don't plan the horse show for June 21st. I'm getting married that day!! ;D

I would love to see some over fences classes.
However I thought I should point out that insurance for the show for the day is typically way more expensive if over fences classes are provided. Someone may want to check on the cost of that before the over fences classes are added.

While we are asking for classes, how about some driving classes?
Afterall there is a reason that the big charity horse shows typically target owners of horses that drive and hunter/jumpers.

I'd like to vote for the Tacoma Unit, if I may.
