...to start our plans for the 2008 SAFE Benefit Show!
First order of business is WHERE and WHEN? I have just sent off emails to the following facilities to find out about Rates and Availability:
Puyallup Fairground Enumclaw Expo Center (anyone been here? Their show arena looks really nice!) Clark Co Fairgrounds Pierce Co Fairground Lewis Co Fairgrounds
I've asked for availability for a weekend between April and August of next year.
The place over in Cle Elum is probably a little too far off the beaten track for this show, but we are looking into a different kind of event to be held there....something more on the lines of a riding/camping/wine drinking sort of thing... ;D
So, here's the place to post your ideas, requests, questions, suggestions...!

Clark Co. Fairgrounds is not the best footing...so I've heard.
Tacoma Unit is pretty nice and has plenty of permanent, safe stalls!

Can't we add Monroe Fairgrounds to the list...?? Selfish reasons of course....

I vote for Tacoma Unit or Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe or the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds in Elma.
Enumclaw WILL be nice someday, but I doubt nice enough within a year's time. There are always StillWater Stables, Donida and The Back Forte in this area, and Reber Ranch (but the arena there is small).

Donida would be awesome. What about Elk Haven in Cle Elum? The Evergreen Fairgrounds would be so nice, the stabling and warm up areas are perfect. I remember the warm up area being a bit crowded

Purely selfish reasons here also...I'm kind of more into Spokane area, myself. LOL...just kidding to all of you! ;D
I would, however, like to put my two cents in on the trail area when the time comes for that. I'd like to ramp up the trail portion of it next year if that's ok? I have some really awesome ideas for the trail course next year. Not trying to step on any toes or anything, but it's the one thing I KNOW about in this whole horse show thing now...I think I'll stick to that.

Crystal, I am COUNTING on you to be the Trails Diva next year! Seriously, you did such a great job this time around, I can't wait to see what you can do with some planning behind you!

Yeah, I can't wait...I'll be like a little kid in a candy store...or horse show. However you want to put it! I've been doing my research this time!!
I'm hoping to come up with some ideas to streamline all of it a bit more and maybe have a little more for a course this next year. We'll see what I can come up with in the coming months. At least I have all winter to figure it out this time.
So no worries, Bonnie! I've got the trail course under control. You just take care of the rest of the show...LOL!

Evergreen has great facilities also. And i think that their costs are not that expensive, plus parking would be alot closer than a few of the others.

I hope to be able to come up to help next year too. I had a lot of fun and would love to help out again.

Our schedules at work are changing so we're going to have every other weekend off... let's hope this time it's either on a weekend I have off, or I can actually get the day off!

Somebody else just suggested the Tacoma Unit to me, and I looked it up online and it sounds quite perfect! www.tacomaunit.com/

That does sound perfect. Solves the warm up problem we had down in Oregon, and it still leaves an arena for the main show and an arena for the trails course (which I am still planning on doing, so of course it's important to me!) ;D

If we use the Tacoma Unit, we have to rent the facility for two days, but the price is reasonable. Any thoughts about expanding this to a two-day show?
Current availabilty is limited to:
the last weekend in June (28-29) the weekend after July 4th (5-6) the last weekend in August (30-31)
