This is a long shot, but we are trying to see if there is any way to get this mare to a foster home: www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1147999This mare is not in a good situation (apparantly she has been chased by an aggressive horse to the point she jumped out of her enclosure and injured herself - TWICE - and the owner refuses to get her any vet care). We have an experienced foster offer specifically for this mare. We can pay for fuel costs as well. Anyone have any ideas, or perhaps willing to cover part of the trip?

By "helping with part of the trip" -- trip to where or to whom? Sorry if I'm being dense.

Sorry, I meant by hauling the horse part of the way.

OK, this poor mare really does need to get out of this place it looks like. She has multiple, untreated injuries and the owner will not call a vet for her, and also is unwilling to separate her to keep her away from the horses that are chasing her. We have a foster home for her but are trying to figure out the transport. We have a quote from a commercial shipper for $325 and that may be the best we can do......

I sent the thread this morning to Darla at Strawberry Mountain Mustangs Rescue (Roseburg) but don't know if she's had a chance to check her email. She might know of someone who could help.

Darla just emailed me, she will post later, she has to be somewhere at noon. She says: I can help relay. I could drive as far north as Salem - as far south as Medford - that's about 3 hrs north for me - and 2 hours south. Hope this might help a little (since I don't know or have missed where the foster home is.......)

Is there another Salem she is referring to? I just mapquested Ontario to Salem, OR and it showed it as 6 hour trip. This is to the Salem south of Portland (and actually, if she could get her to Portland, we could probably arrange something from there).

Wow, Medford shows up as an 8 hour trip. Salem would be better as it is further north. Where is Darla located?

Uh-oh. I sent her the thread but she might not have read location of the mare. Or maybe she did, don't know.
Where is the horse being transported to (location)?

Renton. So for her that is a very long haul. It is 450 miles (8 hours) just from Roseburg to Ontario.

Okay, I just looked at a map. I had no idea where Ontario is - it's right next to Boise Idaho. I don't know anyone in that neck of the woods. But I will contribute $50 to the transport fee if that will help.

From Darla:
Oh no - I just read that she's in Ontario and needs to go North. That's way out of range for me - but I will start networking. I have an idea. Tell them I'll see what I can find and post later. =(
Hubby is late to pick me up... I have a second to type... lol
