Here is a new thread for my filly I adopted as a wild little weanling from CBER in 2005. Her feedlot name was Mocha but I changed it and named her after a fancy friend of mine. Anyway, she is about 2yrs old now and I am in the beginning stages of getting her under saddle. She's a great little filly and I've really been enjoying her since she came to me. I'm setting the goal of taking her to the Oregon indoor trail championship show that is held in November in Eugene. They have a green horse class for horses not ridden prior to May of this year. Here are a couple pics of her from today. Forgive her little tail... The neighbors goat got loose and had lots of fun with her...

She sure is a cute little stout girl. I wouldn't recognize her - she has changed so much! She looks good under saddle, I'm sure she will make a great trail horse with all the experience's you've already given her.

Thanks! She is a good little girl! And yes, she is a stout girl. I've actually had to put a grazing muzzle on her to control her weight. It was either that or lock her in a smaller area with less grass and no friends to run with. This way she has the run of several acres of pasture with her best friend Apollo. A couple weeks ago I noticed she was getting so fat that she looked like a big couch on 4 little legs... Here is a baby pic of her. I will keep updating her training thru summer and fall. :-)

does she have any brands on her?
I am wondering if she is related to Nueb.
Nueb had two brands........one is a heart and one is a tree

I have gone to the trail championships for the last 3 years. I love to watch the horses go through all the obstacles. Last year they added a timed run through the course. I did not like it though. To much of a chance for injury. It was scarry to watch it. I will look forward to seeing you and Fancy there. I remember a picture I think you posted of her running with the big horses. Was that her?? I really liked that picture.

She does not have any brands. When I got her she was pretty little and I don't know the branding process on the reservation. Where did you get Nueb from? Any pics?
A friend of mine did the trail championships last year. She did the timed event as well but instead of blasting thru she kept her foxtrotter in a steady running walk and actually timed pretty well. She showed me the video of some of the other people. One horse actually fell in the water and both horse and rider went under! I'm also going to bring one or both of my geldings down with me as well. I do have a pic of Fancy running with the big boys someplace. I'll have to try and dig it up.

Yes, I was there and saw the horse and rider go under in the deep water. I am glad your friend took it nice and steady on the timed course. Some of those people just went like hell through there. There were seasoned trail riders sitting by me and they thought it was just crazy to ride like that. I was also impressed by the guy who just rode his horse with a string around its neck. I also like to watch the Arabians do the course. I love it when they do well and do not spoke at the fake cows and such. Two years ago one slipped on the big rocks, fell down on her hocks like she was sitting, got back up and continued on her way. I looked up the lady later and told her how proud I was of her horse. Course I am partial to the Arabians. If I make it down there this year, maybe I can look you up. I will have someone to cheer on! Laurie
