You're really moving along with her, HC! Now of course (your horsey auntie has to ask) you were wearing a helmet, right?

Thanks!!! Oh and no helmet, I had no intention of getting on Lady! Anything more than weight in the stirrups and you can bet I wont do anything without my helmet . Lady and I had a relaxing day today. She came up to the fence to say hi when I got there, then when she saw i had a halter and lead she walked off to the other end of the pasture, but I caught her within a minute. I led her around and brushed her and let her go eat on some nice green grass for a bit. Then I put her back in the pen with Brandy. We watched the two of them for a bit and both Lady and Brandy decided to come into the barn. Lady had a jealousy attack because Brandy was getting to close to her people and so Lady pinned Brandy to the wall and kicked her!!! Brandy kicked back and then they both went flying out of the barn. I and Maddy ran in to get them seperate and make sure they were ok. I grabbed Lady who was snorting and checked her over, although I was more worried about Brandy since it looked like Lady had kicked her a good one. Both horses had some superfical marks but nothing bad. We put some ointment on both of them and they are fine. For the next hour or so I petted Lady and she got very sleepy. Her lip was hanging way out and her eyes were half closed, I didnt even have to hold onto her. When I was ready to leave the pen Lady followed me around the pasture like a puppy dog. She is turning into an attention hound. If Brandy gets to close to me when I have Lady, she will pin her ears and try to move her away. She is fine with Brandy if people arent around.

Lady is my miracle horse.
Today when I came to see her she was already waiting at the gate, looking at me with her ears up. I went in and she stood very quiet for me to put her lead rope on. I walked her around and brushed her, the usual rountine. My mom and sister, who are both total begginers and like horses from afar but arent really much for actually messing with one were both with me today. My sister ended up holding my wild ponee while i shovled horse poop ;D. Then both of them ended up brushing Lady for about half an hour, who was falling asleep (again). It was a miracle!!
And I found Lady's itchy spot today. Its right above her withers and oh man does she get into it! She stuck her top lip out really far and her bottom lip drooped, she looked like a parrot. Then she would stretch her neck waaaayyyy out and moved her whole neck back and forth. It was too funny to watch. I cracked up laughing everytime.
So thats todays news. I love ma' hoss ;D ;D ;D!

I really hope the idiot who was concerned about you getting a "troubled/difficult horse" is reading all of this. At the rate you're going, she'll be one of those babies who just breaks out like, ho-hum, oh we're going to ride now? Whatever. Can I have a carrot?

Angie, i just wanted to tell you that i am amazed with what you are doing for PL. you are an amazing girl. I hope my daughter grows up to have your skills. You are turning a horse that was terrified of everything into a beautiful angel. You are giving that girl the love that she has always needed.

Lady had her saddle on again today with her very pink saddle pad substitute . She did very well for about 45min then she looked at her back and realized "oh my god there is something there!!!!" and she bolted off and had a few bucks around the pasture. Then she was fine and went back to eating. Silly horse . She is just awesome though, cant say enough good things about her. She loves getting hugs and brushing hour is her FAVORITE time of day ;D. In the next day or so she will her her first actual round pen lesson with me and I am planning on braiding her mane . Some pics of Princess this afternoon. Can you tell how nervous she was to have a saddle on?

I think I adopted a very large spotted dog instead of a horse. Lady is so friendly now she is becoming a nuisance. I was cleaning her pasture today and she would come visit and get in my way and would get too close to the gate so I couldnt get out. It was so funny. She defineatly has a personality. But I noticed this also--- If she comes out of her safe spot in her mind she is a jitter bug. Today I tripped on a rock in her pasture and she flew sideways (i wasnt holding her she was standing next to me). She needs to get over the "spook at sudden movements", cause that just isnt gonna work. So I spent about 15min of leading her and then all of a sudden doing something like jumping up and down or waving my arms or making a noise. She acted very suprised and would step back and snort....But then would relax and step forward towards me without any encouraging. I know it will take a long time for her to get over this and I am not in a rush. She is getting better. But the best news today is she got roundpenned!!! She caught on really quick and did exactly what I asked. At first I think it scared her that I was coming after her with a whip, but she is starting to trust me so she figured out I was just trying to get her to move and wasnt going to hit her. She relaxed quickly and was very good after that. And let me she she is FAST and NOT a full-bred paint horse. I have never seen a horse step out like her. And to get to the roundpen she had to walk on the road, which she did without much complaint. Here are a few pics and a video of her---- Okay so now the big question is WHAT BREED IS SHE . Anyone have ideas?? This girl can MOVE!!! And the movie--- s95.photobucket.com/albums/l147/PaintersLady/?action=view¤t=DSCN5431.flv

I watched the video and its hard to say because she was running the whole time, not much video of the trot, but judging from the picture, she appears to have a fair amount of knee action to her movement. Her neck is fairly thick as well, and she looks like she has a nice full tail, how about Andalusion cross?

At this point I have no idea what she is! From different people and myself I have come up with these possiblities she could be- Saddlebred Tennesse Walking Horse National Show Horse Arabian Andalusion Oh well whatever it is, its fine with me . She is doing very well, as usual. I have been roundpenning her everyday and today did it with a saddle on, after she had already been lunged for about 15min. without it. She did perfectly with the heavy saddle on at a walk, trot and canter. No buck or rear...nothing. Believe me, I was suprised she didnt have any reaction! The saddle even shifted sideways on her and she didnt do anything bad. She also got her first bath today. She was a DISGUSTING mess, she had been rolling around in the dirt, plus had been way sweaty from today's and yesterdays roundpen session. She did ok...But defineatly needs work on it. The worst she did was act very scared and tried to move away. She had many chances to try to kick, or bite me and never even attempted to. By the time we were done she stood still WAY better than the beggining! I forgot my camera so no pics this time
