Yikes! You shouldn't feel bad at all! You should be thankful that apparently you escaped before you got a good case of heatstroke. Just fyi - by the time the symptoms start to happen you may already be in really bad shape. Remember - lots and lots of water - and it's just as hard on the horses - I'm so happy you are ok !

HC! I am so thrilled for you and your new "girlie"! She's a beauty - and you two will have many great, fun and I'm sure funny times together! She's VERY LUCKY to have you as her "momma" now! And, I want to say, Shirelover is right, you ARE the most on the ball person (age irrelevant) I've met in a long time and you have only the horses best interest in mind at all times. : )

Oh Boy...Today I went to see Lady. Bad idea, it was over 100 degrees out. Soon as I got out of the car today I had a feeling this weather was too warm. So I went and haltered Lady (which took some effort, thanks to the other horses...cough *salsa*...cough). I led her around a little bit in the pasture and then took her too the roundpen. It was quite a feat to accomplish...Lady isnt used to being out of the pasture, so everything was very new to her.... And here is were it starts to go downhill.... She wasnt exactly sure how to be lunged at first, but I started getting really warm...too warm. I started to get kinda dizzy. I thought I could just shake it off and keep going. So I worked with her a little more on the lunging, she was kind of catching on. I think she was more confused as to why I was acting funny then trying to actually lunge. She would stop in the middle of lunging and look at me. I would point at the direction I wanted her to go and gently tap the whip on the ground behind her. She looked very puzzled, I wasnt sure if she was being stubbron, had no idea what I was asking or, (this is the one I think it is)---I was giving her the wrong signal. At about this time it became very hard for me to breath and I got a major headache. So I stopped lungeing and walked to the side of the roundpen and leaned up against it. Lady still didnt quite get the roundpenning idea and I really wanted to have her end on doing the right thing. So I walked to the center asked her one more time, and she did it. My dad came and I put Lady away...Who was walking very fast to get back to her pasture, and I was too confuzzled to correct her. I really feel bad now that I think about it...I feel like I ended on a bad note with Lady. I didnt want that to happen. I feel really stupid for thinking I could be out there in that kind of heat. Hopefully next time Ill have a better update. Glad your ok! (I hope.) Make sure you check days before and see how the weather is going to conflict w/your plans. You should pick certain days of the week (if you aren't already) to go work on Lady and visit her. Over here it should top out over 100 tomorrow, and if today wasn't a pain! I feel for the horses, and other critters. I tried to buy a pool today but they were sold out. What a makeshift that was......

I spent the weekend on the beach in 70 degree weather, it was awesome! Aw, I love the beachy waves, (but I prefer my pool that I can actually swim in w/out any risks ;D) soooooo - I was swimming ALL day basically w/my friend, we're nuts. It was about 95-100 degrees out if not more. Thank goodness for the icecream man (but not really when he came at 7pm) I need a nice refreshing...... lol

Thanks Huskiesnhorses! It took me a few hours to be completely back to normal, I am so happy it wasnt worse. I cant wait to get out there again so I can work with Lady more (and believe me, Im not going out there in 100 degree weather ).

That sounds nice. Maybe if I have a horse by then (next summer) we could ride to the beach together. :-)

Love the new pics of her head. She is so stunning and you take it easy when its so hot, its been about 104 here and you must stay in shade or inside and drink a gallon of water, just be careful with your health. Take care.

We went to Colorado not so long ago & I got horses & humans the cool pak thingies....they work! We have a temp relay from the trailer to the cab - the trailer is ac (so is the truck) but for all sorts of obvious reasons I don't like to haul with constant ac going especially on the horsey end. I ordered ours from a catalog & I have seen them available just about everywhere. I used mine during the clinic and stayed comfortable even in the full sun. Even Katie - the rottie - liked hers, well at least she didn't chew into a gazillion pieces!

Sorry for the lack of updates!!! It has cooled down quite a bit. This Sunday I was at the SAFE Clinic and learned so many new things, that I cannot wait to try out on Lady. And more good news!!! I have been waiting for a spot to open up where I board and someone came to look at the horse they are selling and are VERY interested in him. They will make the final decision tommorw. If it is a yes, then that means Lady will be here within the next week!! I will be out to see her this Sunday for sure, I would really like to make another trip out to see her this week. I will keep you all updated for sure . Thanks for reminding me Patty!
