My Best Wishes to you, Janis, Emma and Duchess on the new place in the Home at Last topic. This is HUGE!!! My Fairy Princess has her very own forest and court to serve her. Or at least, I'm sure that's how she looks at it. I am so very happy for all of you! It couldn't have worked out better. Hopefully, Holly will get her forever home soon too. Until then she will enjoy life here in my little peice of the world. Hugs to all of you. Carrots are in order! Emma LOVES carrots.

Emma is such a little sweety. She still, everytime, comes over to visit as I'm walking by doing some chore. I like that she does that so I make a point to always drop what I'm doing for a minute and give her some attention and skritching. And yes, the "bum" is still her favorite spot to get scratched. ;D She is great with the "desensitizing" exercises. I can work with her feet almost as well as I can with Strikers. About the only thing that is really "scary" for her right now is the measuring tape. I wanted to measure her for some blankets and even though I worked it out slowly and skritched her with it, let her nibble it, etc., it was still pretty evil looking to her if it was anything but rolled up tight. Maybe she is afraid I'm going to "weigh" her? I know girls can be sensitive about that.

Silly Filly! She is messing with you. Emma has had the weight tape on her many times and isn't afraid of it at all. She's playing a game and you are the toy. I hope you can meet with your trainer and learn some games too. Emma is very smart and will take advantage of you. But isn't that what girls do?? ))

Yes, they are both silly fillie's and are playing games with us. We have had it easy with our older horses because they were all trained up and not feeling mischievious like our new youngsters. I can tell the girls have a real good understanding of what is going on and what they are supposed to be doing but then they will play little adolescent girl games, batting those big dark eyelashes, acting all innocent after they have been a little naughty with a "who, meee?" look on their cute little faces. It's hard to remain the "stern" trainer when all you want to do is rub their cute little noses. We met with our trainer on Sunday and are starting on the "7 games." Setting up a common language for us to be able to communicate with them seems to be the main goal but it is also something that is good for them to "chew on" (thinking about) rather than "chew on my fences" (being bored).

A little Emma update for everyone. She is doing so well! She is growing so fast. I head off to work for 6 or 7 days and when I come home, WOW! look who is missy longlegs. She of course is still the precocious princess but never gets herself in more trouble than some cute eyelash batting wont get her out of. As a matter of fact she has been doing really well with her training games and when its not her turn she waits patiently, resting her chin gently on Dutchess's back while it's Dutchess's turn. When everyone had their hooves trimmed recently Emma was the best behaved of all of them. Everyone else was pretty good but Emma had a chance to watch the others go first so she had it down pat when it was her turn. I'll try to get some new pictures of her next week.

Thanks for the update on Emma. I do miss her but know she is in good care. Emma has always been good about having her pedacures. Daphene did a very good job with her. I'm sure Emma is a star at doing the games. She is a very quick learner and happy to be busy. Holly is doing great and in with my three. I have two matched pairs. One pair are red and the other Pink. Give her a hug for me.

Glad to hear Holly is doing well. I do love her coloring. It is so captivating. Has she gotten taller? She is such a beauty. We'll be sure to pass along a hug from you to Emma. It's so easy to do since she is always eager to comes by and get a nose rub or hug whenever we're near her anyway. She's such a sweet little soul.

It's no wonder she knows all the "cute girl" tricks for getting away with being naughty. She's been a cutie since the day she was born.

Emma is adorable, but I find the pictures heartbreaking. Her poor mother gave everything she had quite literally to bring this baby into the world and get her started. This whole story is just too much to bear sometimes.

You are right, it is very sad but it is not the whole story. That was only a sad first chapter. Somebody else wrote that and I cant change it. The second chapter was drama and rescue in which many of you have played a role. The rest of the story is a work in progress but now that we're "writing" it we see it as a story that will be filled with adventure, companionship, fun, and maybe it'll end with a ride off into the sunset, who knows? I wouldnt want to give away the ending. I just know I prefer a story with a happy ending. Thanks to everyone who played a role in turning a sad story into a success story! You should feel happy in knowing you played a part that helped.

The head shot of Emma that is posted shows a glimmer of her greatness. David is right! The book is still being written on each of these horses. Even Black Beauty had it's villans and good guys. Our goal is to see that the good guys win. That the horses win! We do it for our love of horses! It is a noble battle!

Dear Emma I just wanted you to know that I am home! I will stay here at J&M Swan Acres as one of the herd. So we both got the bestest homes! Aren't we lucky horses! Holly
It's true. The thought of letting her go was too much. An other chapter is written.
