She looks GREAT! How tall is she these days? Depends on how crooked I hold the tape! ;D I might get 17hh out of her if I work at it. ha ha . I havent taped her since she's been "at school." Last time we did a couple months ago she was 16.0hh. When she is home next week I'll check her "dimensions." Her color and shape have really settled in nice this summer. With the light exercise she is getting with round pen work and trail riding she is gaining some nice muscle to her shape. Her color is turning a nice even light gold. Our little girl is blossoming.

[quote author=coconut ... I hope she'll be at the show next year ;D[/quote] That would be fun for sure. The hard part is my work sched can be faily random and hard to work around. Certainly something we keep in mind.

Jan has been working so hard at her riding skills to keep up with Duchy's skills. One day Jan spent hours on the trail riding Duchess and then that afternoon was at riding lessons at another place working on her skills. "Working on her seat"... or at least trying to make it sore.

I about panicked yesterday as I was playing with Duchess. She was being a little mouthy/lippy so I thought I would go with it and massage her gums to gently turn the tide on who was in control of the mouth game. All the sudden I see this dangling tooth! YIKES! What happened!? Where's my cell and what's the vet's number!?!? Hmmm,... the other side is remarkably similar... hmmm... perhaps I should check my book of knowledge in "all things horse:" "the lateral teeth pair progressively shed at 3.5 years..."Ooooohhhh.... our baby girl is growing up. Now I just have to figure out how to get a quarter under her pillow.

Jaime is helping me get Phoenix registered as well - I gave up on the lineage names although Golden Spirit was an idea at first. I decided to concentrate on the "golden aspect" - some of these are kind of pedestrian, but I like them:

Great ideas horsecrazy. Yes, Phoenix is a full sibling to Duchess so his lineage names might have some good ideas. Sire and Dam: Seas the Golden Day and Olympic Spirit. "Seas" sire and Dam: Magnificent Legend and Denmarks Fancy Gold. "Olympics" sire and dam: Special Spirit and Gypsy Earrings. Have you become a member of ASHA yet so you can get his papers?

I'm starting to like "Safes Legendary Duchess" and Safes Olympic Duchess." They are kind of a mouthfull but apparently I can even go up to 35 characters. It's hard for me to leave empty boxes on the form. ;D

The latest news on Duchess is all good! She is a number one first class sweet heart to start with. What an unbelievably good horse she is. So kind, respectful, wanting to please, quick learner. Just a perfect girl. Her "DNA samples" went off to the lab the other day to confirm her registration process so that is in the works. I fear Emma's registration may be impossible because her dam was not blood typed and therefore no way to confirm lineage. (If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear alternate paths to registry in lieu of matching dams' DNA.) But Duchess's process seems to be moving along without a hitch. She is going to be the bonafide article! Duchess so enjoys the grassy pasture. I have to keep her from it more than she likes because she is a bit of an easy keeper. She is always so excited to get out on it that she leaps, rears, and bucks for joy! Not for too long though because that can take up valuable grass eating time. Here's a picture from this morning when she finally pulled up from the grass for a breath.
