Jaime, I looked under Skip A Jewel and came up with one whose birthdate was not listed, but her SIRE was from 1974. That might make more sense than HER having a birthdate of 1974 as was noted on FB.

Could Skipa Jewel and Skip A Jewel be two different horses? I wonder if she has a show record.

They are two different horses. Skip A Jewel was born in 1990, which still puts her at a bit older than we think she is. I am waiting to hear back from the person who contacted me originally because she said that Scarlett is the dam of her horse. I am hoping the spelling is just incorrect.

Scarlett has been positively identified as PEPPY SKIPA JEWEL, a 1997 mare by Peppy Super Socks out of Peppy Briquet. (Peppy Briquet may be the older mare we had that went into foster care).
She has had 4 registered foals but has no show record. She was bred by HAROLD AND/OR JUDY STUBBS in Juliaetta, ID.
Her offspring are:
PEPPY SKIPA JEWEL'S Offspring
ROCKY MTN COMMAND 4152341 Chestnut Stallion 04/11/2001 Genetic Typed Sire- FRITZS MANDO COMMAND 3205870
HIS GLORY LIVES ON 4350292 Palomino Mare 03/28/2003 Sire- MCNAUGHTON SANDS 3421178
SKT CHINA DOLL 4562524 Buckskin Mare 04/02/2004 Sire- MCNAUGHTON SANDS 3421178 Achievement: 2008 OPEN RIDDEN IN HORSEBACK RIDING PROGRAM
SKT TWIST AGAIN 5161876 Chestnut Stallion 04/08/2007 Sire- ME CLABBER BOY 3388571
I would look into the possibility that the 2007 foal is sired by Karen Thomas' stallion that was rescued. Can anyone look up the details on Me Clabber Boy?

How is Scarlett? I am so upset she ended up in that situation. I leased her in 2005. I love her very very much. She is so sweet. My poor baby.

When do you suppose she will be ready for under-saddle rehab? I have been dying to ride a well-trained horse

Soon, after she gets her teeth done on the 3rd. She apparantly has a lot of barrel racing training.

I hope she knows how to do more than just tear around an arena.

It is SO hard to see what people do to horses. It's just remarkable that they continue to trust.

Not sure if anyone saw the update on Facebook, but we had a ride on Scarlett last weekend and she is obviously a well-trained western horse. She was very, very safe and quiet and very responsive to the seat and neck reins very well. I think she will make a great family horse, trail horse, or kid's 4H mount.
Unfortunately, she will remain on hold for the time being as her owner is still attempting to retain ownership of her. As long as she continues to pay a monthly bond, we will not be able to adopt her out permanently until she either changes her mind and surrenders her or the case goes to trial and she loses ownership of her there.

Oh no...does this mean that Delilah and Sampson are also in the same boat...she might get them back?

Nope - Delilah was surrendered in February so she and Sampson belong to SAFE now.
