Sweet Scarlett itching her butt on the arena rail. She's the only one we saw lice on, along with telltale patches of missing fur, but we treated all of them for lice today:

She reminds me of Isabelle. At least this group is well handled!

Scarlett got her feet done. Here's the summary I sent to the AC officer. Poor girl!
Scarlett had at least three old abcess tracks on her right front as well as one actively draining abcess in her sole. Her left front had an even bigger, deeper abcess at the toe which had several pus pockets. Both were opened up and she is now bandaged and wearing boots with an epsom salt poultice to help draw the fluid out. She is likely lame on both front and thus was not showing any obvious lameness. She does have scratches/mud fever on both hind legs but was tolerant of having her feet handled.

"She is likely lame on both front and thus was not showing any obvious lameness. "
What does that mean? She is likely lame but not showing signs?

if both feet hurt she will not favor one over the other so she actually gives the appearance of "soundness" due to moving equally on both sides.
This is why it is good to know how to check Digital Pulses at the auction or to have a vet do a pre-purchase when buying horses.
It is actually a trick of horse dealers to lame the horse on the other foot when they have a horse with navicular or other lameness.........

Yay! Thanks to the news program we have an identification on Scarlett! I am still waiting for more information but she went by the name of "Julie" and is registered as "Skipa Jewel". She was leased out for use in a horsemanship program and it sounds like has a lot of training. I'm trying to get info on the others as well.

That's awesome that she's registered and well trained! Does SAFE have any chance of getting her papers?
