I went to a mane pulling demonstration today and I have to say I LIKE the long manes on Arabs so Coconut's will NOT be pulled shorter...but I have to say...I'm having some serious MANE ENVY with Amber's lovely flaxen locks!! Coconut must rub hers out. It just never gets longer...cept the arab-cut bridle path I gave her for the 2008 show...I decided not to cut it so drastically this time and the part I left to grow has nearly caught up with her normal mane. But Amber does look very cute with her pretty mane and all dressed up for work!

Time to move her into the available forum! Amber's adoption fee has been set at $1000.

And a few more I thought were cute. Amber before the ride, I guess she got bored waiting her turn: Amber at the end of her ride: All done, an apple for a job well done:

These pics really remind me of Ariel. I think she's going to look a lot like her mama!

OH she is a cute mover. Do you think it would be beneficial to polo-wrap her legs for every ride to protect her suspensories?

Allison - I am one of those that believes polos are more for looks than for function, so I wouldn't go so far. However, the key to protecting her suspensories going forward is minimizing lots of small or repetitive circle work, making sure she isn't working in too deep/soft footing, and making sure she is not pushed too far in her workouts. She's stayed very sound so far but she's been brought into fitness slowly. Lily Wilson has been riding her the last two days. I was interested to see how Amber would handle a new rider as to this point she's only had the working student and the trainer on her. She did surprisingly well! She is a little nervous to start out and that's when she will flip her head around and sometimes get a little balking and stop, try to back up, but Lily was able to reach behind her and just touch her on her rump and Amber immediately jumped forward but did not overreact to the correction and also after two tries didn't repeat the behavior at all. This morning she rode her in the rain, while the other horses were having breakfast and she hadn't eaten yet, and she was a little nervous and calling to the other horses but settled VERY quickly into her work and then was so nice and steady in the bridle. She didn't canter her yesterday but did today and she did really nice work. She has a little more trouble to left than to the right, and will break or swap leads behind when she gets tired and she's stronger and more balanced to the left, but she did really well and I was very pleased how she was in a new place, new rider, etc. I will probably get on her myself this weekend. Here's a video clip of her with Lily today doing some trot/canter work:

Will Lily be able to work with Amber this week? She looks really quiet and forward, but I guess any horse would with a GP rider

She looks so willing and earnest. Amber, I mean. More than just another pretty face.
Very encouraging!

Wow, she is a very nice looking horse! Very pretty- I had a arab once with those same colorings. Its a georgeous trait in arabians. Do you know if she is a decenant of Gai Parada? I'm just wondering because the 2 arabs I have had with her coloring with both decenendants of Gai Parada. :]
