What is accepted as "proof of rescue"? I want to bring Chanel (from CBER) but when Katie got the horse she did not recieve any kind of adoption agreement, bill of sale, receipt, etc....
I do think that I might have her feedlot photo somewhere, would that be sufficient???

I assume anything from CBER is easily enough verified. And if you bring Biff, well, his rescue was a thread on this board - I think everybody remembers us running around Woodburn Wal-Mart trying to find him something to drink out of!

This is true- at least *I* remember that! Lordy, nothing is better than locating a Wal-Mart in the middle of the night in some town you're not familiar with to try to get some kind of water container for an auction horse because you serioulsy FAILED to plan beyond "He's too nice to go to kill. Here's my auction number, don't let the meat buyer get him."

The last two shows we didn't require any proof to bring a rescue horse, it's on the honor system. (although I realize people have different definitions of the word "rescue", we aren't going to be picky about it)

Agreed, we're pretty easy going about it. We know you're telling the truth, Squirrels!

Found it! Chanel at the feedlot. That's really the best I can do. I knew I had it somewhere! Thanks!

Chanel (7/19/2006)
Age: Younger Height: 15h Gender: Mare Primary Color: Bay Type: Riding Breed: American Quarter Horse Temperament: Training:
CHANEL - Beautiful bay QH Mare. She is a younger horse but we do not have exact age right now. 15 hands, white star with long flowing black mane. Beautiful body and lovely head. Has worked her way thru being sick and is now getting better, really likes attention and scratching. Halter broke, but we are not sure about anyhting more than that.
Update- Chanel is a very sweet girl, still recovering from being sick, her poor eyes are still goopy from flies, etc. She did fine when we got on her and rode her around bareback, seemed light to direct or plow rein, she stopped and backed and as she relaxed responded to leg and rope laid aginst her neck.
For Adoption Only.

Awesome! Thank you! Too bad the vet aged her at 16 three years ago when we got her. She's around 19 now so the "younger" wasn't exactly spot on (plus the fact that everyone we talk to seems to think she's a Morgan- and we agree). BUT no biggie, now we can do rescue AND senior classes!

What about a horse that was in good weight-not abused-but a track throw away-needs rehomed RIGHT NOW? I have a mare that was listed on ABR and cross posted on RO where I saw the listing and is now healed up from career ending bowed tendon. This sounds like fun-Also-I never got a BOS for CBER "Saxon" 2006 yearling range baby now "Little Joe" but I think he would be awesome at trail class. OMG what is a middle aged woman who hasn't done anything other than casual trail rides to do? Can I come out and play? How do I get started???

Wildwoman.... Load up your ponies and join us!!! It's a blast and I'll tell you, I AM one of those re-riders who's kids all grew up and I finally allowed myself to get a horse & ended up rescuing one. I'd never shown and was nursing a ride injury last year but got my horse out there and did as much as I could, threw together my *fancy* English show coat/shirt w/thrift store finds for under $10 (and discovered I would have been fine much more casual!) and actually won a High Point-Novice award!! So, YES, this is a FUN Show: No pressure, amazing stories of rescue and a REALLY GOOD Cause! You'll be glad you did it! Oh....and later I got these amazing show photos that make us look like we're REAL show folk from Liz Stabbert. I am looking at my fancy ribbons RIGHT NOW and kinda wondering how awesome is it that I finally got to fulfill a childhood dream! You should TOTALLY do this!!!!

OK ya talked me into it! what attire is required? Cause umm yeah-no fancy english nuthin'-does anybody have any resource ideas for used clothes-like a swap meet or good lower priced website anything like that-I saw one website where breeches were in the 300. range eeek! I look at that like-gee that would be another load of grain and can't really justify that.

There is no dress code! But you can also pick up good deals on ebay and craigslist sometimes too... most of my breeches came off of ebay for around $15 a pair, although I've recently splurged into the triple digits for a pair I really, really like but that said, there were folks who placed in the ribbons in jeans & tshirts too...so I'd say do what your comfy in, keeping in mind that it's a family event! It's a FUN show...not a fashion show ;D
