Just read the financials again, and I fear for SAFE right now, for if there is an emergency, and plus its winter... I am thinking of things we could do to help ASAP, (I am across the state, but I can certainly donate via mail) to get alittle money in the bank.
- $10. a-thon (urging members to send in $10. donations) -Yard/garage sale - horse play day (do a play day somewhere, and open it to the public, and do various games adn such) -Donation cans (do we have donation cans set up various places?) - hang more fliers (I think there is a post for this already) - sell SAFE shirts (I know I need another one, I have mine worn out) can SAFE make a profit from selling shirt?
Thats about all I can come up with, I am home sick, and was just brain storming.. Any other ideas?

I know I need another SAFE hoodie. My old one got shredded and I didn't see SAFE on Cafepress. I would also L-O-V-E a SAFE ballcap.

Since it's been brought up that funds for training are in short supply, why not have a Trainer's Challenge like MHARF does? www.mnhoovedanimalrescue.org/trainerschallenge2009/I think that's one of the best ideas ever. Horses get trained. The rescue does not foot the bill. And an event takes place that creates great publicity for the rescue (and gets horses adopted). I know MHARF is very willing to talk to other rescues and advise them about how to do it.

The old Cafepress store had SAFE hoodie sweatshirts. I want to get another one and get my screen-name embroidered. I don't know where I could get one now that would benefit SAFE in the $$$ department.

just a little off the subject but I wanted to give my imput.... I liked the idea someone mentioned the other day about CL adds for safe horses. I find I take more time to look when it is just one horse. I know it would take longer to post but i think you would get more people looking and making contact.... just an idea.

We work with a place called Polar Graphics in Kent, for our T shirt, hat, sweatshirt, and all other needs for our restaurant. They have some pretty cool merchandise at extremely reasonable wholesale pricing. I personally like to ride in a vest, as it is not so bulky and keeps my arms more free. They have some really great vest styles, that we could have embroidered with the SAFE logo, and sell at a retail price that would be affordable for most everyone, yet still make SAFE a profit. I could check into styles and pricing if anyone is interested. Might make great Christmas gifts! They also do things like mugs, mousepads, keychains, etc.

When SAFE had the cafepress, I saw SAFE clocks, and I wanted to get one for my barn.

I can contact my friend that has a $6,000 computerized embroidery machine (She is SO not domestic-why her husband got her THAT for Christmas is beyond anyone's guess-but she is TRYING to play along and has taken classes etc) I 'think' if there is a jpeg file-she can have it embroidered.

Hey everyone, thanks for the great ideas! Keep 'em coming. But what we really need, are people who can take ideas into action! So please, if you are willing to help with a fundraiser or other idea, please do!
We did have a Cafepress store at one time. I am not sure what happened to it, Buena was maintaining it. Bonnie also has our logo digitized and has a local shop that will embroider anything we bring her. So far, we have done tshirts, polos, a saddle pad, and some really nice vests and they turned out great. I really want to do some nice jackets (maybe just in black, with a logo in purple) and other things, but what we need is to find a source of the items we want to have made that we can buy a bunch of them in bulk cheaply. We don't have a lot of extra money to have things made right now, so the cheaper the better! But we can also custom make something if you have something already you want embroidered - PM Bonnie about how to do that!

Oh, and I actually do make individual ads for the horses on CL from time to time. The pain is they expire after 7 days so I have to keep renewing them. I try to make a new one every day or every couple of days. I posted one today for Amber. I haven't actually found that I get that much more response that way - I still get the most response from our generic "Horses for Adoption" ad, but I started doing individual ads under the same premise you had, which was people would be move apt to look at an individual horse with a picture.
