My yearling filly was born Overdue but Premature. She was also windswept. MY vet said not to worry and that she would grow out of it since it wasnt a bad case.
Poor Viv hasnt got her womenly frame back yet.

Yeah..........I think that his got stuck that way too when I told him that we needed to buy fans and a misting system for the horses when it got so hot a while back Now that totally makes sense to me DDK - our weather is so variable that it's hard to adjust to the heat! Maybe you can install those for the horses if you install one for him in his garage too.

I have new photos and video of the baby from yesterday, that I will post this evening. He is doing very well, has grown in his baby teeth and is the "everything in the mouth" stage. This weekend we started on halter breaking, and it was so much fun! He did great, had some little temper tantrums but quickly settled and I was able to get him to lead him in circles around mom. That was an excellent starting point so we quit with that. Later that evening I went in to see him to see if he had forgiven me, and he came right up to me and did that submissive mouth clacking thing. He is such a sweet little thing. Thank you Gala for the fly mask (and the halter, although I already had a halter for him!). Unfortunately even the foal-sized fly mask is too big for him right now, it slips right down so the fuzzy part is in his eyes, so no fly mask for him. He is good at borrowing mom's tail for getting the flies off his eyes, or he just leaves mom to go hide in the shade of the shelter. Another cute thing, whenever I put hay down he immediately runs to it, paws in it, and lies down for a nap. Viv just eats around him until he gets up. My little Shih-tzu tried to play with him the other day. She saw the colt playing and thought it looked fun and tried to join in. It was really cute until Viv caught wind of it and went after her! I have to keep her out of the pasture now.

He's a smart boy! That is the warm and soft spot to be - Viv sounds like a wonderful mother...I can't wait to see the photos.

Halter breaking has begun!! First we went into the stall with mom to get the halter on: Then back outside to practice leading around mom. Here's his first impressions of the whole thing: Taking a break for a drink from mom gave him some comfort before we practice again: OK, next attempt! He say's "I don't think so!" We aren't going to push it so we pause for some socializing time: A few more yahoos: Then we are leading! He loves his mommy though:

I have videos coming too, so you can see our trials and tribulations! But success at the end.
Viv - she has obviously had a million foals, she has such a laid back attitude about it all.
