It's time She had her own thread instead of a zillion different ones on the things she's been doing since her rescue/rehab...
So...today Coconut got out on a real live trail for the first time with me (who knows what she did before 2006)
So a few of us from my barn trailered up and headed to Frontier Park to preview the show site to meet up with mymercedes for a little trail ride.
Other than a little arena incident which I managed to stay aboard through some small miracle, We had a really calm & sane first ride on a real live trail! I am just gushing with pride at how she handled herself out in the real world and simply delighted to have been able to spend time with great people and awesome horses.
Along on the ride was our neighbor boarder, whom I mention from time to time, Cajun King & his girl, Rachelle and Maeve w/her ever-loveable Sugar who amazed us as a completely sane horse. She was actually beyond ready to get in the trailer, where ever it was going, she was so totally THERE!! She rode the giant arena like a pro and headed off to the trails like a natural! She was Coconut's ROCK through the day...and in fact it was that connection that basically started the..uh...incident! By no fault of Sugar's, Coconut was just not happy about Mercedes coming between them...ok...back to happy thoughts
I will add that once we left the arena and headed to the trails, Coconut was totally ready to follow Mercedes anywhere!
Cajun hadn't been out in years, Sugar has not moved off the farm since she came there nearly two years ago and prior to that she was a broodmare for 6 years so it's just hard to imagine why she was so excited to go but she was a dream!!
But it was Coconut's behavior on the trails that just makes me SMILE ;D
Normally I take lots of photos of these kinds of things but only got a few today...I was kinda busy!
So here's us w/Cajun & Rachelle
and then Maeve & I with all three horses
and then a little funny one from this morning...which might explain her behavior in the arena...it may have been paybacks for her "flash dance" look before we left!
There was a reporter for the Dispatch out there to talk about SAFE and the show who got some photos of us and then my friend and Trailer-goddess, Kelli, got some more photos w/Kim & Mercedes too...so I'll try to get ahold of those too
