Rob has arrived in California! Here is the email from his adoptor Gala:
We got him home about 8pm last night. He settled right in; I checked him around 1:30 this morning, he was laying down sound asleep! We went to Petaluma to pick him up ( it's only 15 miles from here) the transporters were fabulous if any one should ever inquire. The trailer was clean, and shaving up to your knees - clean & dry. The guys were gentle, respectful and had handled horses a lot - you could just tell. They liked Rob - told us he was 'a real good ole boy'. Rob loaded into our trailer without a hitch. He was tired, thirsty and definably ' are we there yet'....he was ready to have solid ground to stand on. We have been out with him all morning - I took today off, to be close so I could watch with a few hugs and pats thrown in. He adores the little 9 month gelding we have - they talk quite calmly over the fence. The 'mares' (2) are quite vocal & we have had some non serious squeals across the fence. I got a 78 blanket for him last night after work...I'll be going back this afternoon for a 82...he is easy to handle, likes attention, is responsive to our voices (Jerry - my honey, took the day off too). It's cold here today & damp so I'm sure he is adjusting to many things at once. Our goat 'Tulip' is quite scary.. according to Rob....He is a sweetheart, we love him & he has a home forever & ever. He moves like a king and with a little bit more weight on the stone wall frame of his he'll be quite the looker...he is a very, very nicely put together gentlemen, good mind, good manners. His stall (12x12) is loaded with clean shavings and we'll keep him confined in there at night for a few weeks - after all that goat could get a mite sneaky - our farrier is scheduled for the 29th so we'll have him run a file if needed - his feet are in good shape - Kandice is an excellent 'Mom'. I immediately put him on 'gluquestrian' mixed in his mature BarAle and a mix of orchard grass with a splash of alfalfa - he does have quite a case of the runs - which I fully expected. I truly believe 'this was a meant to be' experience! I shall send pictures and I can never come close to THNAKING YOU ALL!!

That's great news! I'm also happy to hear that Cowboy Express worked out... they're one of the haulers that responded to the www.horsetransport.com inquiry. Edit.. there's been a url change.. it is now www.travelinghorse.com. (The old url now goes to a trailer company.)

Welcome to mud country, Rob.
( I'm on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge from Rob, and the winter storm door definitely opened last night.)

Update from Rob's adoptor:
Wonderful, wonderful and more wonderful-- I'm in love with that guy. He talks to us...could be quite a 'cookie monster' (Winnies Natural Cookies for Horses - buy stock in that company - we alone will make it a fortune 500!) He is good around the other horses, especially the foal. He displays the patience of a saint. He has put on about 60 pounds and is actually starting to walk away from his feeder - with hay still in the feeder - my one mare is quite bossy - so I had a little concern if she would just be bossy boots - he tolerates her but is not a push over. I've worked with him on the ground asked him to move over & 'stuff' - it's like a ballerina doing what they do - very sure footed and graceful - he moves so elegantly. Our 4.5 year old Grandson has claimed him......I'm thinking, Rob is not ready to be a kid's horse.... Our Vet gave him a complete go over and came away with no major concerns. I'll give the 1st round of West Nile the middle of this month. When the mud is less alarming - I'll post a couple pictures. We were not affected by the floods - we were ready to go at a moments notice with all our critters in tow. Our roads were flooded, if it would have gotten just a bit higher we were going to pull out. He is just a sweet, sweet soul. I really am just tickled when he pokes his head around the corner of his stall & just wants a bit of love...well...and may be..just 1 cookie!

Update on Rob from his adoptor:
Rob is doing so very well. He's put on enough weight to fill in the hallow areas. Got his 1st West Nile shot last Saturday; our farrier was out, we'll slowly work the right front hoof and bring it to where it needs to be. Rob now responds to my whistle and will come to it when he hears it. He's starting to 'feel' his oats and is showing signs of 'playfulness'. He is also becoming quite the creature of comfort...as it should be! Enjoy a safe weekend. I often think of all you who were so instrumental in getting him 'home'.
