It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that I had Jack euthanized after a 24 hour bout of colic. His pain was too great to ask him to continue and so I made a decision to end his suffering.
He was a handsome boy who had gotten into the wrong hands as a youngster. I pray he feels free from his mental anguish and any memories of suffering at the hands of those humans who hurt him.
RIP Jack boy.

Aw Rosemary. Letting them go is so hard. And the ones that are troubled like he was tend to be more prone to colic because of their agitated state. Thanks for giving him a good home. You did right by him. Now he can be running free from all of those demons.

That is so sad, I know he was special to you. Special to all of us, really. Thats a hard decision to make but it is good that you had the courage to make it.

I am so sorry to hear this. Thank you Rosemary for everything you did for Jack, from the very beginning when you took the initiative to rescue him out of that muddy paddock just over a year ago, to more recently when you stepped up to help us when Jack was having issues with his training and took him home, knowing that he would probably be a pasture pet for many many years. As it turned out his life was cut short, but at least he got a chance to experience a kind touch, a safe home, and the security of knowing that he would always be fed and warm. All thanks to you.

I am so sorry to hear this but glad he had that last year or so with you. He was going nowhere good on Craigslist, and if he had colicked in that pit he came from, I doubt he would have even seen a vet. I am sure the time he spent with you was the best part of his life.

Aw Rosemary, Jack was so lucky to have stolen your heart. He is free from his demons now, both mental and physical. What a gift you gave him.
Run free, Jack.

I'm so sorry to hear we've lost Jack He made quite an impact on me even though I only met him once when I was out at Bonnies for a little photo session. He struck me as a very sweet boy who had just been through so much Thank you Rosemary and everyone who literally pulled this boy out of the muck and showed him what it was like to really be loved, even if it was just for a little while. A couple I like from that day:

thank you for posting those beautiful pictures of Jack. It is the first time I had seen them. I would be very pleased if I could buy copies from you.
thanks for everyone for their kind posts.
I had Jack buried at home on the farm. His grave sits on the hill and looks over the valley.

RM, I'm so sorry to hear this - I am grateful that you gave him such a good life for the last of his time on this mortal coil and that you made the unselfish decision to end his pain.
I hadn't seen those pictures either - they are beautiful.
