I can't believe we never started a thread on this little guy but anywho.......
Connor was a bay Stallion pony Juliane and I rescued from PEC. He was running wild on the Indian Wells Reservation in E-washington when he was caught and sold to the feedlot for slaughter. He was originally bailed of the feedlot by a sponsor and ended up at PEC through no fault of his own. When we arrived there he was in a loose stall and Dean warned us we would not get a halter on him. Juliane showed a tremendous amount of patience with him and almost had him haltered when Dean showed up with a grain bucket. His whole demeanor changed( not for the better) but she haltered him after a bit and he cheerfully left her place and loaded like a trooper!
At Juliane's he was gelded, had his wolf teeth extracted, received a dental, was blanketed(he swore it was a cougar we were strapping to him!!!!) and learned to carry a rider all courtesy of Juliane's patient skill at starting horses.
From there he went to Cat 67's barn in Oregon where he learned to be stalled, ride in an arena with crazy Gymkhana kids racing about and that he could jump!!!! He was adorable and soon attracted the attention of a few trainers. I happily sold him to Sarah Lorenz, a well known local eventer and she resold him for LOTS of money!!!
I recently heard from Sara that he has a great home with her farrier and his son has successfully shown him. They board at Rock Meadow and he is also a well loved part of John Turner's (a well known local hunter trainer) program there.
She is going to get me some dates of when I could come up and take pics of him to update my rescue book.
What a wonderful spot for this little guy that had a truly rough start!
