I got an email yesterday from a gal who wants to help our Rescued Horses. As a 15 year old she might have a bit of a transportation issue however I've been really contemplating how we can utilize that youthful exuberance. She's got a boarded horse of her own and lots of friends who ride and are likewise concerned about our horses so I'm thinking there's power in numbers...
Here are some ideas I've come up in ways that they can help:
School projects/reports that raise public awareness, even if it's just the teacher who reads it, I'm sure it could grow to the classroom, the school and beyond with passion!!
Fundraisers - Car Wash Horse Wash at their own barn etc...
I've enlisted her (and encouraged her to get her friends involved) with our current contest voting
I believe many of you are quite creative. Let's see what else we can get posted here so that we have some quick ideas to share with any young would-be volunteers who might wander onto the Msg Board or that I can respond should they contact us through the webpage.
I'm so excited to see what they can do!!!

This is great, Coconut! I love the School Projects idea, especially. Then maybe in the summer, there can be a whole village of Let's Help SAFE lemonade stands in Puget Sound... ;D

With permission, I'm sharing this email with all of you because I am just so darned impressed with the enthusiasm of our newest *Youth* Volunteer, Bella. I responded to her email inquiry about being a SAFE Volunteer & asked her if she could help out with voting. I also gave her a challenge to see what she could come up with in things she could do within her schedule and geographical limits to help out & this is one of her responses....
"Well... i posted a blog up on myspace that all my friends can read. I copied the story of desi down. put down a link so they can check out his pictures. and pretty much copied the previous email you sent me saying the links to go to. I guess you could say i pulled the pitty story on them! =] lol I even put down a vote myself and i will be sure to do that every day! Ill even try posting a 1 bulletin a day with a different horse story! I can also tell some friends about it from school and my barn where my horse is being boarded. Ill try my best to help you guys out! Sincerely, Bella"
....so it seems that EVERYONE has something they can do if they truly want to!
Bella, you should be very proud of yourself and I look forward to hearing what else you think of. THANK YOU so very much!
