Our farrier's (Daphne Jones) mother has a nursery and is holding a big plant sale that she does every year, with this year having a portion of the proceeds to go to SAFE.
If anyone is available on Saturday to man a booth at the event, I would greatly appreciate it! It is on Saturday and starts at 10am and is located in Gold Bar.
This event apparantly is quite big and has a lot of vendors and such, and also got exposure from Gardening with Cisco so is expected to be quite big.
If you can help, please let me know!

Turn right onto Dorman Road, cross the RR tracks and continue to the end of the farmer's field where Dorman turns abruptly to the left. The second private road on the right (between two fenced fields) is marked by the intersection of 408th Ave. SE and 172nd St. SE. Hey All, I spent the day at the SAFE booth at the plant sale and I have to say that it was a really awesome event. If you like plants, this is the place to go to get some interesting & unusual ones.
Daphne & her Mom, Judith, are such huge SAFE supporters & it was really incredible to hear their enthusiasm for what we do and for the horses themselves as I overheard them just bragging us up to anyone who would listen ;D
For most of the day our table was inside Judith's Fern house and so I got to listen in on the constant council that people were seeking her out for throughout the day. Apparently she's a well known authority on the subject. A subject she is very passionate about. Another passion she has is for SAFE manure! It turns out some of the best around is coming out of Jaime's property in Monroe. It's some magical balance of shavings vs actual manure. Judith just raved about it to all her plant vendor friends.
There are something like 15 different donations of plants & garden decor by the various vendors who are camped out on their property this weekend that are available in the raffle they are holding in our honor so get out there and get a raffle ticket, if nothing else...but I bet you can't get out of there without a new plant friend!

OH, I guess I forgot to post that I went back on Sunday and sat at the booth. The traffic was lighter than on Saturday but I was able to direct several folks to our website who are interested in helping out AND we even had one of Daphne's neighbors come over and tell me they were ready to start the process of getting a horse and think that rescue is the way to go. It was really sweet to hear them talk about how they needed to start from ground zero...I mean actually building shelter/pasture. They seemed embarrassed but I let them know that their situation was probably perfect since they could great advice and start it all out right! They're excited to come to the website and check out the horses. Wouldn't that be amazing that just by sitting at a booth we might have found a potential adopter? I can't answer to how much was raised but we sold probably more than 100 raffle tickets and so we'll see what it all comes down to. I can tell you that Judith and Daphne are just amazing bundles of energy and full of love for our horses and what we're doing here. NEXT year....and Judith Jone was saying she wants to do this for SAFE every year....that she wants to plan ahead and get some baggies filled up with SAFE Manure (which is the best in the land apparently!) and give it to her plant friends. She just didn't have time this year but I promised her a herd of volunteers to come bag up manure next time Lots of people were very sympathetic towards our cause and it was really touching that so many people shared their love for horses (from a distance, from their past and even some current owners). There were also plenty of THANKS coming in for what *WE* do!!!! Just participating on this board YOU help!!! THANK YOU...from me and the admiring public!!
