April 19, 1989 - June 20, 2008 Ariel peacefully passed over the Rainbow Bridge shortly before noon today. I’ll post more on my blog later tonight probably. I am sad, yet very at ease with the situation. It felt right this morning, and it felt right at the moment. Absolutely no regrets. I will miss all the good parts about her, but she is now free of all the bad parts. March 1996: June 19, 2008:

Liz, I am sorry about Ariel. You knew when the time was right and had the courage to follow through with what you believed. That sometimes is very hard to do.

I'm glad she got to eat grass on her final day. Poor Ariel. Thank you for being strong enough to make a choice that was ultimately the best one for Ariel.

So sorry for your loss, but glad to hear you are at peace with your decision. RIP Ariel, run free.

That must be hard but at least you loved her enough to know when to let her go. Everyone should be so lucky; to have a horse that makes it difficult to say good-bye to & EVERY horse deserves to have someone in their life who knows when it becomes too much. You've obviously loved her and given her a life she deserved.

Thank you everyone for your kind sentiments. They truly are appreciated. I am in the process of recounting my years with this horse and will share that final day on my blog as well. In the meantime I posted a very watered down good-bye post with some pictures from the past. More will come with the longer post.
I loved this horse as much as I have loved anything in this life. OK, maybe I love my hubby and son a bit more, but I had Ariel before either of them. The tears flowed freely when she passed, but a great weight lifted and while I am sad, I am by no means distraught. She really is in a better place now. I can feel it.

Liz,
So sorry to hear of Ariel's passing. She was lucky to have such a kind owner.
