Well, this is so sad. I can't even imagine how bad those of you who have met and interacted with Lily must feel. I feel horrible and I have never even met the little filly.
Does the disease she have, have a scientific name?

I am crying right now. She had the most spunk of any of the babies. Poor, sweet little Lily. I'll post some more pictures of her shortly.

This has been a hard battle. Hugs to all of you so close to Lily. Please take comfort in the fact that you gave Lily something she would have never known. Love. In return she tried her hardest to live. You gave her nurishment. Something she would never have known. You gave her SAFE. Remeber the joy she gave you in memories. Lily is indeed a flower, as pure and short in life. Thank you! It is an honor to have known you, dearest Lily. Run free Lily. Safe from this harsh world. Emma and Holly

Thank you all for the time that you were able to have with her. While easy to pick up on the short amount time, which it always is short. It sometimes is hard to pick up on the time you/she had. All of you who have been with her are amazing and you will be blessed. Again- Thank you all.

I am sad for the loss of a wonderful horse, but glad she knew only the best in her time with SAFE. It doesn't sound like it would be a very rewarding, happy life for her to stay with us. Thank you to Jamie and everyone who worked so hard to make her days happy. And hugs for everyone who will be there to keep her company at the end. I will keep my fingers crossed just in case!

Our Lily is gone.
She left us this afternoon after enjoying a walk in the sunshine and a belly full of lush green grass and clover. It was very hard to say goodbye to someone so young on such a beautiful day but Lily went peacefully and easily, with no struggle and no fear.
We told her how much everyone loved her, and what a brave girl she was. We told her that we would miss her very much and that we would see her again some day. And we told her we were so sorry for what happened to her.
Lily was a beautiful filly, a wise old soul, and a fiesty little thing, and we have been robbed of knowing the horse she would have become. Lily should have lived a long and full life, and the abuse and neglect that she suffered at the hands of her owner and breeder was criminal. We can only hope that justice will be served for Lily's sake and for the sake of the other horses that died at the hand of Jean Elledge.
Letting Lily go was very, very difficult, but her bloodwork this morning showed a decrease in her white blood count, and so not only was she not getting better as we had hoped, she was getting worse. We are comforted by knowing that she did not suffer, and her passing was peaceful and quiet.
Thank you to everyone who hoped and prayed for a miracle. The medical miracle we wanted didn't come, but Lily herself was a miracle and we are blessed to have known her for even a short time. She will be deeply missed.
