Wow, what a great response I have had from everyone ;D I am getting pretty excited about the work party out here, a Sunday would be great and if we want to turn it into a pot luck bbq, hey, I will fire up the grill...whatever makes everyone happy As for the bit and bridle, the bridle I found softened up and fits great, you will see it soon in Isabelle's latest video! Thank you to everyone who offered to send Is a headstall and/or bit. Is also has a bit on the way, thanks Michelle! Now for an update on Pie and Isabelle... they both got a pedicure today from Daphne and what a difference. Pie's front feet actually look normal and the hinds will come along soon with Daphne's help. Isabelle has very straight hind legs from the hips down and will need a couple more trims to encourage her heels to grow but she is definitely more comfortable than she was. Thankfully her back has stopped being sore so after a couple more weeks of gentle work in saddle, I will see what she thinks of being ridden. She definitely acts like a mare that was trained at one time but has been left to sit for a while (making babies I'm sure). It won't take long for her to get back into the routine. She really seems to enjoy her light workouts and it really helps her appetite. As for Pie, well, he is just as good as ever, I will try to get a butt cheek comparison photo in the next couple days. He likes to spend his time training me how to feed him just the way he likes, I love how they all have their own ideas of how they should be fed Well, I am off to work on Is's video and watch my pony (baby was due today) I haven't slept normal in days

Well I still have not finished Isabelle's video, hopefully I will have it up this weekend, this darn foal watch is keeping me occupied. The nice thing though is that I am in the barn every minute from the time I get off work until I head back out in the morning...soooo, here is another update on my 2 oldies. Pie is doing AMAZING ;D I can't wait to take some new pictures of him, I just can not believe how much weight he is gaining. I think I have finally completed my training on how to feed him, he is very particular and if I follow his directions, he eats like a maniac and doesn't waste a drop. He is so cute, he nickers (ok well, it sounds like an old man nicker, deep, loud, insistant) and nickers until he gets his beet pulp and grain into which I have to sneak his meds because he does not want me squirting that nasty stuff into his mouth. He would like his pelleted timmothy wet not soaked please and in the big tub, not on the floor And he doesn't want me to forget that he still likes "real" hay but not too much or else he will have to throw it on the ground and stomp it. Also, yeaterday, he went out into his paddock and got mad at his mini neighbor and took off running and bucking like a colt, I wish I had my video camera out, silly boy. I gave Isabelle a bath on Sunday after her big workout at a trot, she is not cantering yet as she has at least a locking stifle. Dr Evergreen is coming out on Monday to evaluate it, asses the extent and help me come up with a plan that will help her stifle be more stable and comfortable. I guess the aloe shampoo made her summer coat feel so good that since Tuesday, she has pretty much been molting her winter coat like a rabbit. Anyone who might like to spend a few hours brushing her would be welcome at my house any time She loves to be brushed and if someone would be so kind as to stand in front of her, she would be happy to groom them back. She is such a sweetie. She has been eating like a horse and is now cleaning up more hay per feeding than my 15.2hh warmblood filly! I don't see any more evidence of her quidding any more so I think her mouth must be feeling better since she finished her antibiotics. She stil drinks 4 buckets of water a day and she uses her stall to show me that it all comes right back out I really do love thes guys so much, I can't wait to get Isabelle to the point where she is ready to become someones special girl. Thanks again to everyone for the offers of headstalls and bits, Isabelle is all set now. Anyone forsee a nice sunny Sunday to work on my little bit of fence.......

What a great update! I am glad to hear Pie is feeling good despite his condition. I will try to pop in Saturday afternoon, with my nephew, and give Isabelle a good grooming and say Hi to Pie. I think the sunny Sunday is a ways away - they are talking snow this weekend

Alright, I got the video done but I am not very happy with it I did want everyone to see how well Isabelle is doing though so I got it done. I am just so tired from watching my pony, still no baby. Anyway, Isabelle is doing awesome. I know there are a few things people may comment about so I will address them first. I know her caveson is too low, I have not used a flash nose band in forever and since I was using the it to attach the lounge line this time, I didn't want it sliding through her mouth. I will need to put a few holes in the crown to make it fit her better. My daughter, lounging Isabelle, was playing with her friends when I called her over to do some lounging for me so I could film from a different angle so yes I know she is wearing a skirt and crocks but as you see, Isabelle is a very easy girl to work with and after working her for a week or so, I felt confident that she would not present any problem for my daughter

I think it looks great!!! Hmm...I might have to see if I can get you to help with video editing in the future..... She moves a little stiffly behind but I don't see any locking stifle in that video (although I believe you saw it). I'll bet it is something that will resolve on its own as she gets fitter.

Actually, she only has locked up at the canter. She has locked up both in straight lines and on a circle. I have been doing some research on locking stifles and after Dr. Hannah has a look at her, I have some really good exercise ideas. I am lucky enough to have a huge long hill down the road from me and I foresee many hours of going up and down that hill. Isabelle and I are going to be in awesome shape in no time ;D

There must be a technical term for that particular shot... someone I know calls the muscle there "the pants."
It is marvelous to see all this transformation. Isabelle's video is very encouraging. I wouldn't worry too much about her hind end. Stifle ligaments tend to tighten up through work, or maybe its that there are muscles to pull against them. Anyway, I can say that Cedar is steadily improving.
As for the impending birth, try taking a nap. That should bring on the foal!
A Re-fencing party will of course have to be documented. I could do a little work, too...

Dr Hannah just left. She came today to see Isabella and Pie. Pie just got a quick wow, he looks great, 'cause he does and Isabelle got the whole spa treatment. First I brushed the >))$#@$%^ out of miss Isabelle's molting coat. Then Dr. Hannah had me lounge her a bit to see how she moves. After having a little warm up, Dr Hannah went in for the big Chiropractic. Oh poor Isabelle, she is going to feel soooo much better now. After a bunch of work in her neck and poll, she can actually arch her neck and move freely She was pretty much locked up just about everywhere and already looks much more comfortable. After her chiropractic, Isabelle was treated to a big 'ol Acupuncture treatment, we did it redneck style with KMPS on instead of the usual new age music Isabelle felt a few of the needles which means that she was really needing to open those pathways. I am so excited, after a couple days of rest, I will start back up with her exercising and hopefully will soon be able to answer the question of "can she be ridden" ;D Sorry I didn't get pictures, Isabelle wanted me to be reassuring her the whole time so no chance to take pics.

I think everyone who has had a hand in helping these horses over the past few months has been absolutely heaven sent. Thank you to everyone!
I'm so glad to hear Hannah was able to help Isabelle. Sounds like the poor girl needed it! (Oh, and she's right....Pie does deserve the WOW!)

Well, I just saw the forecast for this weekend and it looks pretty good Could I get an idea of who would be up for a little fencing party so Miss Isabelle and the lovely Pie could get a bigger pasture? Here is what I am thinking.... Sunday April 27th (this coming Sunday) around 1ish, there is about 100-200 feet needing to come down and go back up. This will involve 1. cutting down some not so huge blackberries and a few pretty big hawthorn trees 2. removing the old nasty barbwire fencing and t-posts 3. re-setting the t-posts and stringing the new hot tape. I would be happy to host a BBQ pot luck after the fencing, it is beautiful out here, I have a big deck and a great gas grill. Kids are welcome, I have miniature horses that would love to be played with and a huge trampoline! (If I am lucky, I will have a pinto pony foal too!!) Here is what I have to get the job done: T-post puller - 1 Chain saw - 1 Weed whacker - 1 More t-posts if we need them - lots T-post driver - 1 Clips and caps for the posts - more than enough If you want to bring anything else or more of the same, the more there is the faster it will get done. I will need more hot tape, I am all out of any that is worth putting up, if someone wants to donate it I will be happy to accept, if not, I will get some. 1 roll, 600 feet of 1 1/2 to 2 inch will do the job. The location for this "party" is in Sultan, 7 miles east of Monroe on highway 2, please PM or email me for the exact address. email is horsenhound@verizon.net If anyone wants to pot luck, I can keep track of what folks are bringing so we don't have 10 potato salads...which by the way I would love to make

Alyssa, I wish I were closer to you. I'd be all over a fencing party if it meant meeting Pie and Isabelle!
