SHE LOVES ME!!! ;D One of the biggest issues I have noticed with Azalea is that she just isn't used to people doting on her. I think before this she has always been more of a commodity - not an animal to be loved and cherished. She would accept people's attention but wouldnt' crave it. Well, tonight when I went to bring them in from the grazing pasture - the girls were in front of me and called their ponies. Normally they would get a response and Azalea would come meandering up behind the others. Not tonight, the horses were hiding and we couldn't even see them. The girls were calling away and then I called for Azalea - she came running! It's the first time she was the first to come in and she ran the whole way right up to me! She is so amazing - she make me so happy just to look at her. ;D

Sunline feels exactly the same way about those late photo shoots! In case I haven't said it lately, that really is one of the prettiest mares on earth.

You know what I love about Azalea? Her little ears....she has very dainty little ears for a big TB.

The funniest part about her ears - they are ultra stiff! Everyone that has worked with them has commented on how odd they feel...funny girl!
She now takes great pleasure in giving Quest, our older arab mare, very ugly faces at meal times. She loves it that she now has someone she can boss around!

Azalea had her first bath yesterday and she was fabulous! No issues with this girl except she probably wasn't being used to having a bath with tempting grass in front of her! YUMMERS And for about 5 minutes - her mane was all on one side! Doesn't she look elegant. ;D

After everyone's baths we turned them out to graze. Skittles took off running and Azalea after him when suddenly she dropped to the ground!
I thought, OMG - what happened...well, she saw a minute amount of a dirt patch and performed a gallop to stop, drop and roll maneuver like I have never seen before!
Then it was up and off to the races again! It's the first time I have seen her run stretched out...I must say it didn't take her long to over take poor little Skittles!

I have very sad news about Azalea...she has been replaced! The love of her life has dumped her - Skittles has lost his infatuation with this beautiful girl. For those that were at the clinic - they saw the devotion these two had for eachother. He adored her, couldn't stand to be away from the long legged beauty. Well no longer. He has someone new. Skittles has decided that the playboy lifestyle is not the one for him...he has become a family man! It took a few days for the transition to become complete - but after Dancer and Shoqinah moved back to my house, Skittles has now decided that his position is that of father and husband to mom and baby. He loves on Shoqinah - shares food with Dancer who he used to not be able to stand! Surrogate father is his new role and poor Azalea is left out of the mix. It took her a few days to come to terms with being tossed aside, but she has now accepted her new life as companion to a grumpy old arab mare. Instead of being adored by a man...she now only gets to boss a girl, then stand and eat with her. We hang out in the pasture and commiserate over her new circumstances. I scratch her withers and she nuzzles my back.

You can see especially in Azalea's Lady of the Night photo an indention in her neck. I found some info from Islam Mythology about these types of marks on horses.
"At times there are horses born with the “thumbprint of Mohammed” (aka thumbprint of Allah) on their neck, a small round depression, that is said to be a mark of favor that the prophet bestowed on the original five mares to mark them from the rest of the herd."
I've always known she was a special girl! Since TBs come down Arabian lines, she must be part of the 5 arabian lines blessed by Mohammed. ;D

Ok, I am having a hard time seeing Skittles as a family man He is definitely your player kind of pony! Although the baby does have a resemblance to him
