While updating the Hytyme horse up for adoption I thought I would take this time to show off my boys. They are th loves of my life so you know I have lotsa pics!!!
This is Atticus he was rescued off the feedlot 9/05 - he is a Quarter Horse & he is 17 years old now and is the best horse EVER!! My 8 year old son and my hubby ride him, he is pretty much retired since he has an arthritic knee but he does great on Adequan and with our awesome chiropractor that visits him when he needs it. He loves to go horse camping and is the best trail horse, so easy just point him in the direction and he goes.....and goes. He lives at on 5 acres at a friends house who runs a wildlife sanctuary in Portland, he has a donkey friend named Speckles and he is the greeter for the tours at the refuge, he inspects everyone. If you ever want to visit him check out www.macawlanding.org He is very happy that the neighbors adopted 3 sisters from Russia recently (7/ 12 / 15 yrs old ) he is doted on constantly by the girls and is teaching them about the love of a horse! Atticus is every young (and old) girls dream!!!
My other boy is Oslo, he is a Fjord cross & is approx. 9-10 yrs old. He was rescued off the feedlot 4/06. He came off the feedlot with severe trust issues. Basically when we got him at Hytyme he lived on a 70 acre pasture with other horse for over a year and refused to let anyone touch him. One day (after being inspired by a Monte Roberts tape I just bought) I set in in my mind that I was going to catch that horse. I used the Join Up techniques and it took me 2 hours to catch him the first time, the next time 1 hour, the next time 1/2 hour and so on.....I did ground work with him almost daily for the next several months and during that time we went to the SAFE horse show, he placed 2nd in Rescue Horse Halter. Fast forward to now....he is so fun to ride, he ride about 5-6 times a week, he knows alot already and he knew alot that was hidden under his trust issues....trust issues are gone now and he amazes us daily, he is my soul mate. We are like 2 peas in a pod. His 2 year anniversary from being saved from the feedlot is on the 26th this month and I am so thankful he was saved.
(PS: he has lost some weight since he has been working and off 70 acres of pasture, so this is a before tummy pic!)
