A horse that was shown at the Country Classic has the neurological form of EHV, and is at OSU currently. It is quite contagious (airborne - 35 feet or so) and there are reports of other horses that were there, now having fevers/nasal discharge/cough.
FYI.
I personally had my horse vaccinated this morning with the attenuated version of the vaccine; the vet I spoke to recommended that horses that haven't received the Rhino/EHV vaccine within the past 90 days (your spring shots) should receive it earlier than your regularly scheduled fall shots.
The sick horse reportedly has a frozen bladder, limp tail, and very bad proprioception. So far, the horse is hanging in there... jingles for it and all horses exposed to it!

So far so good.
My vets told me that none of the EHV cases in OR, at least (and there's one at my barn) have turned out to have the neurological form...even the horse that was at OSU.
