Okay - Azalea is my first TB and I am learning lots with her! I have never had an animal this sensitive before. What tips and tricks do you all have for grooming. I have a jelly curry thing and that is even too much, I basically curry with my hand and then soft brush everywhere. I just want to get the last of her winter coat off ...suggestions?

Chewy is a very sensitive TB too - I use a face 'Grooma' on his body - and he seems to tolerate it better if I run it along with his hair rather than going in a circular motion on his sides. It grabs the hair pretty good even if you are pressing very very lightly. I use all face brushes on his whole body. He will however - let me do circles and press a tad harder on his rump and hindquarters - he likes that so much - well - let's just say he reeeeeeeally relaxes!

;D I love this topic! Rubber curries: good. Soft brush: good. Rub-rags: very good! Vacuums: the best! once you show them that they won't be eaten by the machine... I can actually use the metal shedding blade with my TB, but I trick him! Use it in the direction of the hair, with one arm, gently. Right behind it, following it actually, use your other hand to stroke the horse in the same place you've just used the shedding blade on. Works great! Those slick rock-block thingies are pretty good, too.
