I am switching up Redmond's diet because I haven't seen any difference feeding him the Cool Calories, and I have talked to a few people that said to try Rice Bran mixed in with his grain.
How much Rice Bran should be added to the feed daily? I have read about 2 pounds per horse per day. Is Rice Bran something that should be slowly introduced? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Nikki

Dr. Hannah suggested working him up to 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in his grain 2x per day. She said that if at any point he stops eating it to back off on the amount until you hit the amount that he will accept.

Here is what I feed Azalea and she has done very well on it. She gets this twice a day plus an extra alfalfa flake thrown in with her during turnout. I think it costs as much to feed her as it does my other three combined! I flake alfalfa I flake orchard/alfalfa mix 7 lbs LMF Senior 1 lb Rice Bran 1/4 c Omega Horseshine (flax seed supplement) 2 scoops Cool Calories 1 scoop ABC Fortified Plus Vitamins 1/2 scoop Bug Check She cleans most everything up but really loves the senior the most. I add the rice bran and flax seed for fat and the rest to help get her healthy on the inside too! Now that her weight is almost up, I am planning on starting to cut down on the senior and adding LMF Showtime instead. As with any change, just be sure to make it gradual. Too much rice bran all at once and it won't do any good as it will all just come right back out the other end.
