I let the old dog go today. I set her free to find her way. To run through fields and fresh new snow, it was so hard to let her go.
Took off her leash, I stroked her head, you are such a good dog I quietly said. My faithful companion all these years, I said again and again through flowing tears.
It is time for me to let you go, your heart, your health is failing so. Because I love you, this thing I will do, the loving thing after all we've been through.
I let the old dog go today.
This is in tribute to my old girl dog whom I layed to rest today. She was 15 and in failing health. I will miss her. I hope she is playing ball with God.

I am sorry for your loss. I am facing the same situation with my older dog. Neither she or I am ready to let go yet though. Your poem brought tears to my eyes because I know it is just a matter of time.

Oh Rosemary, I am so very sorry. I lost my old guy Dolan this summer and I still miss him every single day. Sending lots of hugs your way, she was very lucky to have you for a mom.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard. I lost my lab the end of July and I am still getting over that.

I'm so sorry for the loss of you beloved pet, words are just words during this difficult time, but I'm sure your little dog loved her life with you so much, and letting them go is the hardest thing to do. Bless your heart.

Rosemary, I am so sorry to hear about your girl. It's the toughest thing to do...but bless you for finding the courage to let her go and now she's pain free.
