I just wanted everyone to know that Cairo arrived tonight in his new home. This could not have been done without the enormous generousity of REDMOND! (Valerie) and Juliane. I will post some pictures tomorrow and as he transforms into the stunning horse that I know is there. To be continued.....

Juliane got us safely back to her place and I just got home from there. The biggest thanks of all have to go to Juliane for her endless generosity and putting the pedal to the metal. We flew! And let's not forget Qhflicka who found the ad for this poor boy, Dr Hannah who's gentle touch helped him start healing and let him know we only wanted to help him and Lisa, who listened to me on the phone talking endlessly about this horse. And now - thank you to Skylineacres who has a fine gem that only needs some polishing (and a little food won't hurt either). He is truly a gem. I will post his "before" pics soon. Man I am tired. Glad he is home, glad we are all home.

A HUGE thank you to everyone that was involved or donated time, energy and even some sleepless nights to get this horse out of his situation. He unloaded great and talked to all the horses as I led him to his stall. He went right for the hay, of course and settled right in. Today, Megan (honeyfish) and I are going to do a thorough lookin him over. Even though he had a blanket one I could see his inner back thighs were very skinny. I don't think it will take a whole lot to get him polished up. I'll take some pictures and post them, hopefully soon.

Well, today was a unusual day here in Oregon. It snowed all morning, but that didn't stop us from going to see the horses. It did prevent us from getting any good pictures of Cairo. My b-friend did capture this one, though. Cairo is checkin out the snow while Megan and I chat.

Shanessa~
Thank you for the pictures of Cairo AKA Mercedes. I knew there was a beautiful boy under there somewhere. I'm sorry you had to be subjected to the "situation" in Mason Co. Be assured he will never have to wonder about where his next meal is coming from.
It's been a week since Cairo came to live here. He is doing well. Eating like a champ. His personality is starting to show.

I put him out in the arena with my other gelding, Denali. He was trying so hard to get Cairo to kick up his heels and play with him, but Cairo wasn't going for it. Denali ran circles around Cairo for a bit then settled down after he realised that Cairo wasn't in the mood. I really wanted them to play but I think Cairo is depressed. I'm hoping to turn them out together everyday from now on so Cairo can have someone to hang out with. They were very good, no squealing, fighting, kicking. I think they will be great buddies. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera so no pictures. I'll try to get some of them tomoorw. Cairo gets his feet done tomorrow and wormed. I'm gonna start him on senior grain after he is wormed to get the weight on.
