SAFE recently rescued 2 gray Welsh-type ponies out of the Colorado feedlot, with the assistance of Shiloh Acres (www.shilohacres.org) and Ahimsa Ranch Animal Rescue (www.ahimsaranch.org). These two ponies will be donated to Ahimsa Ranch who will be in charge of their care, training, and ultimately finding their new homes. The second pony is Samson, a 2-3 year old dapple gray gelding, approx. 14.2 hands tall. He was easy to handle, and at this moment we know very little about them as they are awaiting their brand inspection before they can be taken off the lot, cleaned up and assessed. In these photos he is the lighter gray in the middle: On the right: If you would like to have a chance to name this cutie pie, as with Benny it is $10/entry. Winners will be drawn on December 15th, so get your entries in quick! The only requirement is that they not be named a name that rescue has already used for one of their previous rescues (list to come). Adoption Fee: TBD Contact Lauren at Ahimsa Ranch for more information: cowponycrazy@aol.com**the smaller dark gray filly was also rescued**

Hey, I'll have a go at this game! I'll donate $20 for one chance to name this pony and one chance to name the other pony.

Okay, since I am the only person who entered the naming contests, it looks like I win both of them!!
So the names I choose are Samson for the gelding and Delilah for the filly.

I'm looking for a therapy pony for my 4 yr old daughter to grow up with. She has minor Muscular Dystrophy.
We have a 16 h 27 yr old rescued gelding (have had him for about 3 years) he has the right temperament but is intimidating because of his size. Looking for larger pony that an adult could ride/train with the right temperament for a child.
I have had horses for many years we have 2.5 Acers. a secure (aprox 1 acer) of pasture with shelter.

Hi Janine, these two ponies are in Colorado, so probably a little far for you. They are also not broke yet. Have you checked out Brandy or Pockets? We also have a couple smaller-sized horses that might work as well.

I've been bad and have not updated this thread or Delilah's thread with their progress. They are both located near Ft. Collins CO and the weather has been very tough this year...lot's for snow, which makes it hard to get a lot of training done. Here is an update from January 12, when we let Lauren know that we had picked names for the ponies: I pulled some pictures from the Ahimsa Animal Rescue site (Lauren's site) that she took in January... Here is Samson: And here he is with Delilah: More below...

Here is an update I received on February 1:
I've just sent another inquiry on how both ponies are doing, so as soon as I get it I'll post it here. I'm also going to see if we can get more pictures of them.

Hi There, I first saw Samsom on this board when he was sponsored off the lot so I thought I would post to say Thank you! Thank you for giving this incredible little guy a chance. My husband and I adopted him last week and he arrived in Montana last night after a twelve hour trip from CO. He is so beautiful and has such an incredible spirit! We adopted a horse from CBER last year named Comet and have been so lucky to have him in our lives. I guess I got "pony fever" after helping get Chelsea's Connor off the lot last year and so enjoyed watching him bloom into the little star that he has become. So now I have a pony of my own Anyhow I just wanted to Thank SAFE and all supporters for giving us this opportunity. Keep up the good work! Sarah in MT
