Can't wait to hear about it, Liz! Are you and Buena exhausted?

It was a fabulous trip. And believe it or not, I am not all that tired. The driving over and back wore me out, but the riding all day part...I wish I was STILL doing that. I was in bed at dark (something I NEVER do at home) and up at sunrise (another thing I don't like doing at home).
Buena, and Mercy (the other horse I took), both enjoyed getting out and working cows. And I ROPED off Buena, too! That was something I hadn't expected to do much of, if at all. And Buena did FABULOUSLY outside riding around the ranch and was one of the few barefoot horses that rode EVERYWHERE. I was absolutely tickled! Gotta love Arab feet!
More pictures and a report will come once I get it all formatted and posted to my web site (too big to post on message boards and I have lots of other people to share it with).

I can't wait to see - I'm a huge fan of Buck Brannaman. Would you recommend this trip/clinic?

If a person is interested in it, the only way to get on the list is to write Buck a letter expressing interest, and riding in as many of his clinics as you can to show that you are a serious and practicing student helps. I was on his list for almost 10 years before my name came up; and he didn't do them at home for a few years so this year was his year to stay home and catch up.

You must have met some pretty interesting people - were there lots of pros enrolled? I imagine he must not suffer fools... And all day on horse-back, ahhh.
I love picturing dainty Buena amongst the cows - how cool that you were roping from her!! Good on ya, Liz!

I love picturing dainty Buena amongst the cows - how cool that you were roping from her!! Good on ya, Liz! There were a few folks that were "pros" and either ride for the public or run operations where they are working with folks who are new to horses or they ran dude-type operations centered around NH/vaquero style horsemanship. It was WAY cool roping on her (I have NOT dallied off to anything solid yet, like a log) considering her issues with head/ears and hindquarters and ropes. I look forward to being able to do MUCH more and with greater confidence on my own now! I didn't take the plunge solo because I wasn't ready. Now I am! Here's my Day One report with pictures: elizabeth.a.clark.home.comcast.net/08_28_2007.htmlKeep in mind I took 3 days to get there so my official Day One of riding is still to come. Day Two: elizabeth.a.clark.home.comcast.net/08_29_2007.html

Very impressive Liz! The most I have ever roped was a steer head stuck in a bale of straw. And I was not on horseback.

I was using a breakaway hondo on my rope! Just to make sure that was clear! I am SOOOO not ready to dally off solid to anything on Buena yet!
