Hi, we are the one's that donated Painter's Lady to PEC, we were the one's that paid for her from CBER, I am glad to see she is doing so well, please keep everyone updated with pics. I was shocked today to find out she was adopted, I guess there was a mis communication with Dean and I. I don't mean to be rude just trying to find out about her. I do have a question thou , how old is this adopter? She just seems very young and I was very much hoping for a lifetime home for her since Patty is very ill and we could not take on another at this time. Again I am not trying to be mean just trying to understand what happened to our horse. I know messages can't be heard (the tone of voice) I don't mean anything just really want to know the facts. And one reason I ask this is because a very nosey rude person emailed me and said she was adopted out to a 13yr old kid, not my words just what was said in the email. Thank you
Eric

Hi Eric, I don't think you are being rude, I think you just have some questions. I'm sorry you got bothered by the very nosy rude person...maybe that's the same person who posted the very nosy and rude comment near the beginning of this thread.
Have you tried to contact Dean directly? I know she is here fairly regularly, but you might try contacting her directly if you need an answer quickly. I know she has a website, but I would need to look it up...let me know if you need that addy or not.
I'm so sorry to read that Patty isn't doing well, please send her our best wishes.

She has been adopted by a youth rider; however, she has a lot of support from adults and is nice and quiet with horses - as you can see in the pictures, the filly is really comfortable with her. I know a bunch of us who have twenty or thirty year olds we acquired at a young age, I still have my girl that I got at 17 (and man, neither one of us is young anymore, ha ha!) so it just depends on the person. Some of us have definitely stuck with our horses through thick and thin and if Horsekrazi keeps hanging around us, I have no doubt the obsession will rub off

Thanks for the quick updates, appreciate it and when Patty wakes up will show her, I am printing alot out for her. She hated giving up Lady but you know you never know what will happen down the road. I never thought I would be doing everything and working full time either. Patty is fighting cancer still but is having a new surgery in aug. when she has more strength and were hoping and the doctors are very hopeful this time. i got webtv stuff hooked up and she will be able to go on during the and read stuff its slow but will keep her busy. Thanks for the well wishes and yes i think it was the same person that wrote the thing about who got painters lady. Patty likes Dean and they spoke several times on the phone and i am sure she is doing the best for painters lady. i wish some of you were closer to spend some time with us. will write again eric

I have been framiliar with horsecrazi for the past year via her involvement with various rescues. From what she writes, she seems like a very responsible, level-headed young woman with a passion for the horses. IMO Painter's Lady couldn't have asked for a better owner. I got my OTTB when she was 5 and I was 12, 17 years later I still have her and she is still the top priority in my life.

Give Patty our best wishes, everybody hopes that she is back working with her horses very soon. I am sure she is going nuts having to rest. Most of us horsewomen don't do that well!

Let Patty know our thoughts and prayers are with her. Dealing with a major illness is a struggle for everyone involved and I would tell her that PL looks like she has found the right place in the world for her. IMHO there is no better home in the world than a young girl for a horse. Provided of course that she has the support of her parents. Young girls have all the time in the world and seem to have the ability to make horses very happy. From the photos PL looks very content to have her person with her. I'll never forget the kids in my barn who would fix their horse's feed in the evening and arrange smiley faces in the grain made out of horse treats or sour patch kids or whatever favorite thing the horses liked. I am sure the horses could have cared less if they were in a smiley face arragement or set along the side, but to be that devoted to the horses care is something few of us old gals have time for. :-)

Please let Patty know she is in our thoughts. Feel free to update your rescues onto our threads - I love to hear how rescue horses are being rehabilitated.
HC is a very responsible person with a great touch with the horses and most importantly, parental support. You can read through various of the horses listed here as rescues that she worked with and changed - none of which were hers. Painted Lady has a great owner and will be loved for life!

Hey its me.... I got this webtv working, it is really slowwww but at least I can sit up in bed and see all your posts even without glasses LOL. My wonderful husband put the 52" widescreen tv in our bedroom so I can see it really good. Thank you all for the so very nice posts, I wish all people could be as nice as this group is. And Painters Lady looks just great!!!!!!!!! that makes me so very happy, and she looks like she really likes her new person in her life. I will be looking forward to many updates to come. I would like to start one for Bam our bucking stock horse from the feedlot, anyone know how to start it? Would like you all to see how far he as come. I was hoping to be able to go with Eric to see him ( he is with our trainer for alittle bit) but its a 1 1/2 hour drive and just not up to that just yet. I usually take all the pictures but I do have some Eric took and his before (feedlot pic) so if someone could help me start the link would be great. It could say BAM 1/2 Draft Bucking Stock Gelding 7 yrs old, I guess. Well fingers are getting tired so have a great day everyone

HC is the best kid horse owner I could ever know! She knows how to treat horses and how to work them. It wouldn't suprise me if she would be a pro trainer one day! She has helped save many horses lives, by getting them homes. She is a wonder worker! Keep it up HC. I'm sure Painter loves the life so far, and will continue!

Patty, the power of good positive thoughts are yours. As a fairly new member to SAFE - I can attest these folks are the best people on earth; with that said I can also attest they are not mamby pamby's - they call it like it is. They are each dedicated to the horse world in the best interest of the horse. Painted Lady landed in paradise - if PL had a birthday wish to have her very own girl - her wish came true! If I were to have to find a new home for anyone of my beloved best friends - I would pray for an HC. HC is smart, wise beyond her years and she is involved - this is not a passing interest & we all have each other @ SAFE to truly, in every sense count on. Welcome to our world - it's a very nice place! PM me if I can assist with anything any time day or night - in the mean time take care, rest & know you and Eric are in our thoughts!
