Cinnamon is quite the frisky girl and last night decided to kick the stall divider. Unfortunately, she kicked over the top of the divider (about 4 foot high) and got one of her back legs caught. We had to disassemble the stall to get her leg free. It is lucky that she has that TWH attitude and didn't fight too much. It appears she only has minor scraps, but she still isn't willing to stand on the leg. I felt it all the way up and down and it feels sound. The vet will be out today. Everybody please send her good vibes.

Jingles from south of you, too.
Gee, Sprite and now Cinnamon... the change in weather does inspire them no matter what their age.

The vet could find no obvious broken bones, but she did a real number on her muscles, tendons, etc. She has some swelling, so ice packs every 4 hours and she's still not willing to really stand on the leg. She's on Bute, antibiotics, 2 sprays for the open wounds. He said she probably won't be ridable again, but she is 26 and he had also never seen a horse that age kick that high either! I've never considered riding her was important anyway. I just want to get her through this so she can get around w/o pain. Cinnamon is a real survivor, so I feel very confident that she'll come through okay. Thanks for the jingles!

BTW, I forgot to mention what a brave girl she is. She was in all that pain and let the vet examine her with barely a flinch! The good news is that my husband has fallen in love with horses. When he saw how great she was through all this and how the other horses were so concerned about her, he realized how wonderful horses are. We are getting close to moving the horses to our new place and with Cinnamon's injury I was wondering if anyone has suggestions about transporting her. Fortunately we are only moving ten miles, so it will be a very short ride.

I have my Thanksgiving Gift - Cinnamon is putting weight on her sore leg this morning and walking around in her stall as if to say, "Look, I'm all better and I want to go out with the rest of the herd today!" ;D She was even pawing the ground for her food this morning. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Cinnamon is continuing on the road to recovery. She uses her injured leg and appears to have no soreness. It looks pretty gross, but it is healing - so I believe that I will let her out of her corral today with the herd.

OH my god TWHGAL!! My TWH is out of your mare!!!!! Apollo's name is Kendar's Wildcard. He was born in 8/97. I looked up her info on the TWHBEA.com and see that she has had 7 foals. Apollo being her 4th and 4 other full brothers and sisters to him. Wow!

What are the odds? I'm just glad to know that one of her babies won't have to go through what she has! I'll tell her about her long-lost son today.
