This was posted on the Sno-King Saddleup Meetup page.
"The Tacoma Equine Hospital is planning a gelding clinic on Friday, December 31st. This is being sponsored by The Unwanted Horse Coalition - the price is $50. To make an appointment, or to volunteer to assist, call 253.535.6999. Any questions, contact Dr. Meg deGravelles (same phone number.)"

Thank you for posting that. I called Dr. Meg and am going to help with paperwork and checking in that day. I'm very excited to help out with this project! YAY....it's a good one!
She's going to forward me a flyer and some more information. Their goal is to do 10 that day.

She's going to forward me a flyer and some more information. Their goal is to do 10 that day. This is something that I would be totally down with helping at but I have to work. At $50.00, I would think she'll hit her goal pretty easily.

When I called today to volunteer-they said they are taking numbers to coordinate volunteers and may have enough that folks will only have like 2 hour shifts-but they taking down as many names as come in, and at that point had 13 colts lined up for brain surgery-and again-they are taking down all the information for more-trying to put together a second event like this in the near future.-So don't discourage anyone from calling and getting on the list-even if they don't make it on this one can be lined up for the next.

I'm thrilled to report that SEVEN new geldings were turned out back into the local equine community yesterday thanks to the awesome vets & staff at Tacoma Equine Hospital. Dr Meg deGravelles & Dr. Linda Hagerman donated the use of their practice & staff to offer this amazing service to local stallion owners...and when I say local, I mean ALL OVER Western Washington. There was a horse from Lynnwood & Juliane from Cowgirl Spirit brought ESP rescue Cherokee all the way from Carnation! King Feed donated straw for bedding while one of the pharmacy suppliers for the practice donated post-op medications. I was told there was a waiting list for both horses & volunteers so clearly there is an ongoing need as well as ongoing support for this type of event. Check out the article in today's The News Tribune: www.thenewstribune.com/2011/01/01/1485110/clinic-turns-8-stallions-into.htmland of course my take on the whole thing on Hoofprints Across My Heart: hoofprintsacrossmyheart.blogspot.com/2010/12/watching-balls-drop-on-new-years-eve.html
