..needless neglect.... "...the owner checked the halter a month ago and it was fine. When she tried to remove it last night, the horse lashed out violently. She felt she had no choice but to have it put down."Seriously? ALL that happened in ONE Month? A 3-4 year old on the Elledge pasture had a yearling sized halter embedded into her head. My son & my friend Kelli removed it while we were there picking up Coconut and while it left a mark and took away skin and hair, it had not cut into the face that severely. My bet is that was a foal or weanling halter on a yearling+ sized horse. Of course I am not an expert but I would think that even with rapid growth patterns of any young horse, we're talking MONTHS AND MONTHS of growth to cause that. And who doesn't go look at their horse for a MONTH...and leave it in a pasture (with a halter!) for that long...may I add, a pasture with BARBED WIRE!!! This just screams of ignorance.!!! www.king5.com/news/pets-and-animals/Help-comes-too-late-for-neglected-horse-98897594.htmlI got a note from one of the family members who tried to help the filly and, while heartbroken, they are trying to take comfort in the fact that she suffers no more.

Some people deserve to be lashed with a whip.

I just heard Kim from Pasado's on the KIRO 97.3 talking about this case. It might be available to hear on podcast later.
