I found Honey in a thread here on SAFE, though she was not a SAFE horse. I had her for a couple wonderful years. I miss her SO much!
I miss the way she bobbed her head at feeding time, all the while making a very deep rumble.
I miss being able to walk out to her run and talk to her.
I miss the way she snuggled with me. YES! Actually snuggled!
She was so sweet and so kind! She was the envy of the other mares, and the love interest of the geldings. She was my own beautiful racehorse!
She had split her front toe, all the way through the hoof wall. The wall started pulling away from her hoof, causing pain. It was getting worse, not better as we had hoped.
Thank you, Emily, for giving me those too short, but very precious years to love Honey.
Shortly after I ended Honey's suffering, I found this quote.
“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.” ~Washington Iriving

Karen, I am so sorry for your loss. i have known Honey since she was a baby and I was so happy when she found such an excellent home with you. She was a lucky girl to spend her final days living the good life.

My condolences, Karen. I remember when you were able to take her in, and was pleased because I knew you would take good care of her.

I am so sorry. I just lost my boy on March 4th, so I know what you are going through -- the pain is truly difficult to bear. God Bless . . .
