Well everyone, we are very close to show time.
First off I want to say thank you to everyone who helped put this show together. This year's show was a complete group effort, and I am so grateful to those who stepped in and took ownership of their part of the show. I am very excited to see the fruits of your labor come together -- I think that this year's show is going to be a tremendous success!
I would especially like to recognize these folks for their hard work in making this show possible:
Lynn for putting together the Vendor Fair -- the list of participants that you have gathered is astonishing. Beyond my wildest expectations. There is going to be so much for spectators to enjoy at this show.
Jaime for organizing the SAFE horses -- we're bringing a record number of our own horses to this show and you have done an amazing job getting them ready to go, not to mention arranging hauling and handlers and riders. This was a huge undertaking this year, and I am so grateful to you for doing it. Thanks also to the many folks who stepped up to help Jaime -- I am looking forward to seeing you all shine in the show ring.
Show Managers Kim and Allison have done a stellar job getting the details hammered out for this year's show. I think we are going to have a very large turnout and I think that the show is going to run very smoothly. This is in large part thanks to the two of you.
Crystal for the Trails Course and Classes - Trails is a hugely popular part of the SAFE show and I am beyond thrilled that you have continued to make it so. You come from so far away and you put so much effort into your job. I am proud that we can offer such a professional trails course to our participants.
Laurie for the Prize Drawing - This is another element of the SAFE show that just gets better and better every year. I'm so grateful that you can take this and run with it, and that you inspire so many others here on this board to help you gather items for it. And you and Kurt are beyond amazing to drive so far every year to make it all happen. And you bring goats.
Jet for doing everything that I throw at her - and they have no idea how often and how much I do this. I am so excited about the half time festivities, the sashes, the awards, and everything else you have created for this show. You're a class act, sister. I am also looking forward to the return of Coconut the show horse. Watching you two together in last year's show was such a delight.
Thank you all for your hard work, planning and enthusiasm!
To the rest of our wonderful and hardworking volunteers, just a few quick notes before we get this thing started.
Please wear a SAFE shirt if you have one. I regret that we did not have the money in place this year to make new t-shirts for everyone, and I sincerely hope that we will be able to do that in the future.
I believe that most of you have assigned positions already. If you don't, please track down either Jet or Allison when you arrive at the showgrounds. In the morning, it is most likely that they will be at the stables helping Jaime get the horses ready, so start there.
If at any point during the course of the day, you need to take a break or be relieved from your job, and you cannot find another volunteer to take your place, please please please say something. If possible, talk to Jet or Allison or get a message to the Show Office. It would be most preferable if you guys could all support each other so that everyone gets a chance to rest, eat, and watch the show. So talk to your fellow volunteers and try to work together. I think we are all going to be very very busy for the majority of the day, so let's help each other out as much as we can. The key is COMMUNICATION.
We will try to have volunteers bring bottles of water to the people who are working throughout the day. It is going to be pretty hot, so please make sure you are not overexerting yourself. We don't want anyone to keel over. Please.
We have received 20 pre-entries already, and another 8 stall reservations on top of that. And that is NOT including the 10 SAFE horses that are attending the show. I think we may end up with a large number of participants, so be ready!
Best of luck to all of you, and have fun!!
