hey everyone i was just out cleaning my paddock and the stall and i noticed that my horse (big Morgan gelding) is showing signs that he is getting sick. i separated him from the others and I'm wondering if there is anything else i can do for him. he has a runny mucus-ey nose watering eyes and from the looks of it a bit of diarrhea. anything besides letting my vet know?

Have the vet out ASAP to do a complete exam and take necessary samples for testing.

Diarrhea can be devastating to a horse very quickly. It always is an indication to call a vet.

Would have the vet take a look - this is the time of year for all kinds of things to pop up, some of them VERY nasty bugs. I would get the vet out, have them pull some blood work and decide on a course of action from that point. Make sure you are pulling a temp using a digital thermomete every hour or two and keep a chart. If the temp hits 102 it becomes an emergency. I would also suggest starting intensive doses of a product called Diarsyl - it is designed for horses to stop diarhea in 1-3 doses. AND - start extreme doses of probiotics daily in the feed for at least the next 30 days, 60-90 if the horse is started on antibiotics.
