Well, I have some progress to report on the Auction Project:
Last week, one of the folks on the volunteer email list, Cherri, offered to contact someone she knows with a venue and it appears we have been offered his amazing old Church/turned Dance Studio in Tacoma for the proposed Equine Art Show/Auction. We need to settle on a date and move forward with rounding up the talent and some (hopefully) very cool auction items.
I hope to be meeting with Cherri this week to discuss it further and make arrangements to meet with the owner of the venue to talk dates.
We already have several very cool auction items offered including original art work & photography packages from many of you.
Today I posted on Craigs List both in the Pets section and in the Gigs section to solicit the creative community & have received at least 11 inquiries this afternoon for artists and photographers who are interested in participating. Many of them have responded to my information emails with offers of more art for the auction.
I am thrilled by the response and hope to have some really great items to bid on at the auction.
So here's what I need help with:
1) MORE auction items. I'd especially like to see if anyone has a contact in the local sports community who might be able to secure some memorabilia to entice the sports fans in our life to support this event.
Also any big bang items like weekend get-a-ways or special participation items (Like a day w/a local celeb?!) or anything else that might be of special interest. Think "What would get me to raise my bidding paddle?"
2) We need an event name - I was thinking something like ...
The HEART of the Horse or HEART Beats & Hoofbeats...etc....
be creative, I know we have some great minds out there.
3) If you're not already on the volunteer list but would like to help with the event, let me know: PM me your email address and I'll add you to the email list.
I'm actually amazed at how much support this idea has gotten already & am thrilled at how fast things are progressing.
As soon as we set a date I will announce the place/date/time (I don't want to jinx myself by saying it will happen and then have it fall through!) but let's just say that I think this venue will, if it works out, end up being an amazing connection and probably the PERFECT place to hold it ;D
