Hi All.....I've decided to start a thread for current needs in the volunteer department: I'll post it and update it if it changes. Basically, if it's still here with a date in the future, it's still needing attention.
Please post a reply or PM me if you can help out.
Thanks for anything you can do to help!

The first "NEED" we have is to cover the day shift at Jaime's in Monroe on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16th. FILLED by VALERIE!! ... THANK YOU!!! What needs to be done??
Picking Up Paddocks Picking Up Grain Pans Filling Water Buckets
This should be done during daylight hours: ideally starting prior to 3pm
We have the fabulous SHEKABERRY after dark to do stalls
**Jaime & I just did paddocks, stalls, water & feeding with headlamps in the rain/dark...not exactly the most ideal way to get it done. I wouldn't wish it on anyone...so a daytime helper would be great!
Who can help out next week??

Sorry to add to this, but I have a HOA board meeting Tuesday night so we will need a Tuesday person for everything.

Ok guys, I am in a panic. We had no one show up on Sunday and I was out all day trying to get everything done, and still couldn't get everything done and had to leave two stalls uncleaned. Kayo and Scotti need exercising as they are swollen now and Kayo's on antibiotics, Whisper requires several feedings a day, the horses need to rotate turnout time in the arena so they get a chance to move around and give their feet a rest from standing on the frozen ground, and the ice has to be broken on the water tubs several times a day. I am working on a huge project at work and had to work over the weekend, and need to go in this week. Mike and I spent had to spend a long time hauling water from the source by the barn as the hose was frozen, and now we have no water at the barn at all, so we'll be hauling water from the house today. We had no cold water in the house at all this morning, and the hot water came out brown to start, so I am pretty sure we are looking at a plumbing disaster under the house with broken pipes. Mike's taking the day off work to try and fix what he can. It's bad enough if we have to haul water for 11 horses from the house, not sure what we are going to do if we lose our water here.
So bottom line is we NEED HELP!!! I know the roads are not fun right now (Old Owen Road has been sanded), but please, if you can help this week, let Jet know!

More weather fun...the automatic gate is broken. Hopefully not for good but it appears that the engine may be burned out. So anyone who comes, its been disconnected and we are back to opening and closing the gate by hand. This is NOT fun.

Oh my gosh, what a nightmare! I have been hauling warm water from my house for only three horses. I can only imagine the hardship of doing it for 11! I most definitely wish I was closer. Wishes out to you for some relief!

Valerie, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I know I have to go in on Wednesday, but I think tomorrow I will be able to stay home and can help haul water and such. Yesterday I took every water tub I had on the property and put two or three in each paddock and one in each stall so that if this happened they would have as much water as possible. Still I am breaking ice every few hours, I am sure you are experiencing the same thing at your place!

Something that might help. I know it's not terribly sanitary but I've used my tractor's bucket to haul water with before. No point in hauling buckets with water in them. It's easier to fill the tractor bucket and scoop from there.
Another tip. Leave a cold water facet running/dripping slightly all the time. Usually a small trickle is enough to keep pipes from freezing. In the house, and in the barn if you can.

That's an interesting idea Steve...and I did know about leaving water running. We forgot. We also have heat tape already on the pipes that was put there 5 years ago when we had that ice storm and my pipes froze and broke in 7 places. Unfortunately, I forgot to plug that in also. I suck!

Hey.. It happens to us all. The main thing is to get water back. Reminds me of when I boarded at Donida. Was out thawing the water pump. Got it working only to have the power go out. Cured that with my generator. The only barn with lights/water and nobody noticed that drove by.

The water will be tricky as we may be hauling from the house...but I should be home tomorrow I think. Wednesday I have to go into the office, but they are now talking snow on Wednesday so I may not be staying all day. This weather really, really sucks! And they are saying we are not going to see above freezing until at LEAST Sunday!
