Recently I wrote into ask regarding an incident with my horse crow hopping after the saddle feel under his belly. After that happened to him, he would crow hop ...like a crazy horse after the saddle went on him. So I talked the trainer at the barn and he told me to start taking the saddle off and on and rewarding him for his good behavior. I did this everyday for about 30 minutes and also put him into training with the resident trainer down there. The first day when the trainer got on Stetson he crow hopped one time. Since me working with him and the trainer riding him, because after that incident Stetson put me on the ground. Stetson has NOT crow hopped since then. Stetson was a stallion up until last year, guilded and then broke this year. Stetson has turned into the most wonderful horse and such an asset to our family. I do believe horses remember everything and with a little patience on their part and love they do respond greatly. Happy horse lady in Lake Tapps!

You should name the trainer who got good results for you - people are always looking for a non-abusive trainer who will actually get the job done and solve the problem!

Hi CAT67, Good call. Dennis the trainer I'am using. Yes he is VERY quiet and patient. I truly adore watching him. He trains a lot of thoroughbreds fresh off the track. One of the MAIN reason's we left the stables in Puyallup recently was because the trainer WAS so incredible abusive to the animals. When the trainer at the pervious stables went after my horse in front of my face, we moved Stetson that night to Feature Farm in Auburn. Dennis ONLY charges $15.00 per ride or $450.00 a month. Right now I have put Stetson into training for two weeks. At this point though since Stetson doesn't have many miles, I will have Dennis ride him monthly. I haven't seen Dennis fall of ANY horses yet and don't want to see him hurt obviously but he has MORE expierence than me...so miles will be put on him by Mr. Dennis. Here is more info on Dennis...he trains at five barns that I know of: www.featurefarm.com/Feature_Farm/Starting_Horses.html

I have known Dennis for a long time and I would be SHOCKED if you ever saw him come off a horse.
When he was at the track he would get on the worst of the rouges and have them behaving like puppies in a matter of minutes.
He is a most excellent horseman and I am thrilled to see that he still using his talents.
I only wished I known when I was looking for someone to start a horse for me.
I would highly reccomend him to anyone looking for help starting a horse or with a "problem" child.
