It's time to shift this into high gear!
First off, I need your help figuring out what publications are available to us for calendar listings, advertisments and editorial content. Here are the ones I know about off the top of my head, and I know I'm missing several:
- Flying Changes (calendar listing done)
- Horses Inc (calendar listing done, full paqe ad)
- Northwest Rider (ad placed in July issue, calendar listing done)
- Horse Connection (sent editorial information)
- Cascade Horseman (calendar listing done)
- Northwest Horse Source (calendar listing done)
What others?
Here's our basic ad plan:
1) print ads in Northwest Rider and Horses Inc
2) listings in Calendar sections of all pubs
3) contact editors/send press release to try to get some editorial coverage for our show
4) Posters and entry forms distributed everywhere and anywhere (NEED EVERYONE TO HELP!)
5) Mailings to local stables and riding groups (CAN SOMEONE HELP WITH THIS?)
Any other ideas?

You may want to send flyers to Washington State Horsemen, and the Zone's. Although most of those people are showing for points, a lot of those people are looking for shows to school at or take their horses to for experience or practice before a major show.

We should be able to post in the event section of Craigslist also. (I know, I know...bad word...Craigslist....but it's FREE!)
Bonnie, you have a pm regarding this, also!

I will also have it posted on the www.phops.com website calendar. Today they sent out all the information about the show including volunteer and sponsorship opportunities to all 200+ local members. They even made mention of the Cowgirl Spirit demo at mid-day reminding phops folks that we did a benefit for them last year. I was sufficiently impressed by how much the communications director must have read in the sponsorship package I gave them last week. They also mentioned that I would be showing Coconut so I guess that means I better figure this out. But back to Phops...they will run this promo in their weekly email update until the week of the show.

also, my friend has a radio show, if I can get a date before the show would anyone be interested in going on as a 'backstage guest' ?! ;D They usually let you plug a local event while you're there. My husband has done it a few times and plugged Parrot Head events. My son's been there but I've never done it...I'd love to go with someone else. You have to get there at like 8am or something like that. It's the Bob River's show on KZOK and I'm friends with Downtown Joe. Their producer, Mike, is a horsey guy himself!!

May want to include the Little Nickel in that advertising blitz. All kinds of events usually are posted in amongst their horse/livestock ads.

Putting up fliers in tack stores and feed stores will be good too. Stoneycreek Outfitters in Monroe (sponsor?), Sultan Farm and Feed (sponsor?), Olson/Mills in Bellevue, Gift Horse in Woodinville. Any others?

What about advertising on Radio websites? KMPS, Q Country, or whatever. I believe some of them have an "event" page you can post too since we are non profit.
What does it take to have a radio station to be at your event? Do you have to pay them?
Those of you with Blogs / Websites may be able to post about it?

I got an email back from Mike at the Bob Rivers show and their "backstage pass" list is full through August and they are currently booking for September. We can still be booked and go for a date in September just to be able to talk about SAFE but it won't help us for the show. I do have contact information on PSA director, Julie Warner, Julie@kzok.com
I do know that KZOK is a part of a group w/KMPS, JACK, etc.... One contact might get us in the door at all of their stations. Would someone from the SAFE Board like to contact them or do you trust me to do it? I don't want to put anything MORE on any of you but also don't want to speak out of turn, if you know what I mean!? I guess whatever might be in a future press-release would be good copy for a PSA, eh?

Everyone be on the lookout for the August issue of Horses Inc magazine. Not only will you see a lovely full page ad for the show, but we should also have a small write up somewhere in the magazine.
We are talking to Horses Inc about an ongoing feature on SAFE horses available for adoption, so stay tuned for more about that!
