I took in a beautiful 9 year old gelding from a neighbor- this horse is suffering from extreme neglect to his feet, and I need a referral right away for a natural trimmer or farrier who can correct a bad problem on his right front. The other hooves are long of course, but they seem to have worn in an okay sort of way. The right front looks like a ski jump! No heel to speak of, all toe, and he throws it out like it bothers him. I don't expect one session with a farrier will fix it, but I need to get him comfortable at least. I live in Snohomish County west of Arlington. My regular farrier just does straight up trims, and this guy needs more than that. Does anyone know of an expert who can come in the next day or two?

Please try to call Mission Farrier School. I think they are in your area. Mark Plumlee is the owner there, and he referred me to my current shoer who has been a blessing to my navicular horse. He has students in many areas and they are all highly skilled and I would trust any of them. I feel they are the best around. Mission Farrier School has a website and gives you their contact info. Just google Mission Farrier School. Good Luck!

Not sure if they can come out in the next day or two, but here's a couple of folks to try:
Daphne Jones (SAFE's barefoot trimmer): 206-816-4816
Dawn Doffelmeier/Sunrise Farrier: 425-422-5949 - does shoes and works with sport horses

I use Maureen Gould (Natural Barefoot Trimmer) and she is out of Stanwood. Her email is maureen@fortheforse.net
She runs a small rescue and is extremely compassonate about the rescues.

I use Chris Schwisow. He is a Mission Farrier School graduate also, and is in your area. 425 210 9942. Just giving you another possibility since you want someone to come right away.

What happened with this horse? Do we have an update?
I just used Chris at Janice's recommendation and was very impressed. Does a good job, very patient and strong enough to hang on to a horse who challenges him (without complaining).
