Josie is a dark bay QH-type mare rescued from CBER, among the group of first SAFE rescues. This was Josie at the feedlot:

Here are some updated photos I received on Josie last July. Somehow I missed the entire email. At the time she posted that Josie was doing well but they adopted another CBER horse, Whimsical, who was not getting along with Josie and they were looking to rehome Whimsical. I have sent her an email asking for an update on how things are going. She said that Josie was not 100% sound behind but they were not sure why, however she was still ridable for light riding.

What beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing them. Every horse deserves to be loved by at least one little girl. Lucky girl, she's got two. She looks great! Pam

She has an off and on lameness in her front feet and issues with tripping. I gave her owner Dr. Evergreen's number and she's going to pursue it a little more vigorously if it comes up again. She doesn't do a whole lot with her, mainly pleasure riding on the trails. She has very small front feet for her size and I wonder if maybe she has some navicular issues.

that sounds very familiar. I just sold a qh mare that had similar problems, small front feet, on and off lameness occasional tripping, we tried everything. We found her an excellent home, and they got her rechecked for navicular (we had her checked when she was 4, and it was negative) and she is full navicular now, but the lady loves her and just gives her a little bute before she rides and then just walks her around on short level trail rides. She loves her. There hope

Update on Josie: Josie is doing so awesome, I had her boarded and in part time training for a couple months at Cascade Meadows between Feb. and April. I also did a natural horsemanship clinic in May and I have been taking centered riding lessons. She has a nice controlled trot now and she will canter now, but we still need to work on controlling her speed and picking up her shoulders around corners. She has not had any lameness since last year. She is in great shape and has really muscled up. Now I just need a trailer so we can go on trail rides! Here is a picture of her with my daughter Emily at the barn. I need to get a better picture of her outside. Cindy
