I saw this, and my first thought was, did they discover that horse caught in the panel, or did the "rescuers" cause that horse to go through the panel trying to catch it? The other pictures really don't look that bad, and the caption of the stuck horse is "after getting caught in some TEMPORARY panels". Hmm.

"the only thing I did wrong was have too many horses" WTF, I say, again, WTF?!?! Too many to feed, too many to shelter, too many for vet care, too many dead ones to take care of the bodies? ?? How exactly is that not doing anything wrong??? Okay, I'll take a breath now.

unfortunately the medicine hat stallion in that picture became tangled in those panels trying to keep from being caught...they had to sedate him to get him out, and he didn't break any bones or lacerate himself, thank god. Apparently he was one of 20 stallions on that property, living in a herd with many many mares, most of whom were pregnant with foals by their sides. I found this link via COTH - it has first hand accounts from one of the gals from Days End Farm Horse Rescue who was there trying to save these horses. The newspaper story doesn't even begin to convey how horrible this scene was. www.johnlyons.com/dboard/showthread.php?t=10224&page=1&pp=10
