So with western washington being as wet as it is in the winter. Any thoughts as to the best way to demuddify? Especially for an area with 5-6 horses in it. I believe it is currently being scraped to push some of it into piles, but is there a better way?

Ha! I just went on a Horses for Clean Water farm tour in Maple Valley. There were three "runs" and the owner used gravel. Whatever you use to cover your runs/paddocks, it will turn into a muddy mess unless you have adequate drainage and pick up the manure daily. In addition to the Horses for Clean Water site, try the King Conservation District-- www.kingcd.org/
