Here's a great link for any of us to use when trying to get horses to/from places. www.easyhorseship.comIt's free for 60 days. Truth be known, I have "re-registered" many times and never been charged. Anyway- be prepared for LOTS of quotes. I will say be very cautious as well and ASK QUESTIONS of anyone that contacts you. I like to know what kind of rig is being used (possibly dimensions if not a huge van), how often they stop, layovers, emergency procedures, communication protocol etc..... Hope it helps! -Amy

I highly recommend Able Horse Transport! able_horse_transport@hotmail.com Not only were they simply wonderful to work with, they were great on price as well. I was concerned about having someone at the destination to receive my horses since it was going to take me about 2 days longer to reach the destination than them, so David (able horse) took my girls to his home until I was able to be available for them to be delivered. David and his wife, Loretta, are wonderful people and I would use them again without a single thought of hesitation.

See edit... I've used www.horsetransport.com to find a ride for Rob to California. You enter info' about the horse, origin and destination and within 24 hrs you get a number of quotes from different horse transport companies. It seems to be an effiicient way to get in touch with a number of operations and find out which ones are already planning to head your way. Edited to add.... after entering the requirements for Rob - Orofina, ID to Santa Rosa, CA - I received about ten bids, five within 24 hrs, the rest over the next 3-4 days. Looks like this is an effective site. (and Rob should be heading south mid-month.) Looks like there's been a name change.. it's now www.travelinghorse.com (horsetransport takes you to a trailer company now!)

Subject: Horse Transport Special
This is a great transporter. They stop every 4 hrs to check on the animals. Please contact them at _lovinghorsetransport@yahoo.com_ (mailto:lovinghorsetransport@yahoo.com) Anyway the special we are having is One horse pays full price, one goes free! Normally we charge $1.00 per mile. That is through the month of December. But for Legit Rescue groups, we can consider doing this all the time next year to help them out. It just depends on the high price of Gas and where they need pickups and deliveries. We used 'Cowboy Express' out of Montana when we transported Rob down. They charged $450. from Kendrick Idaho to Santa Rosa, CA. The trailer was clean, with shaving knee deep, no foul smells. Rob was very tired after 30 hours - but in good condition. The driver & handler were experienced, caring & educated in horse handling. The 6 horse gooseneck was in excellent condition. They discounted the fee because Rob was a S.A.F.E rescue. ~Gala
