Chuck's owner has been rescuing horses out of auctions for some time, rehoming them, and going back for more. SAFE is assisting her with finding homes for four of her current rescues. I got Dina and Chuck about 2 weeks ago and they were in BAD shape. The pony is the better of the two. They came from a lady who got them from another lady in Monroe. The lady I got them from was taking them to an auction so I met her there and bought them from her for 200 bucks. Chuck is very thin and has NO back teeth. He is eating senior horse only (he stills manages grass). SUPER sweet horse. Great ground manners. Right now he is turned out with Buckwheat and they LOVE each other, never seen two horses so close. Would LOVE to see them go together. This is the pic from the day I brought him home. Chuck is UTD on shots, farrier, worming, and teeth care. Located in Shelton, WA Adoption Fee: $Free to Excellent home Contact SAFE at adopt@safehorses.org for more information on Chuck.

I met Chuck yesterday....he is doing just great...up from 600 pounds to a normal weight. He's a cutie pie. He's a real talker, lots of nickering...I guess he has a habit of putting his ears back and nickering and letting his lower lip droop, all at the same time. It's funny. He looked to me like a large pony. He's all furry and white.

Here is an update on Chuck!
Hello! I am doing great, and Chuck is doing outstanding! He is back to full weight plus a little lol.. i saddled him up a couple weeks ago to see if he was ok with it and i rode him around the arena and then put a little kid on him adn he did great! Just like a seasoned pro lol. He does pin his ears when you tighten the cinch but he did not try to bite or anything. He would be great for a child to ride or a therapy horse. I have some updated pictures on my laptop ill get those to ya today or tomorrow. Thanks for everything! Meghan

A bit of an update on Chuck: "He has no back teeth, and eats only senior horse feed. He is able to eat grass just fine, but we have no pasture.
We know more about Chuck now, and he is a great kids horse. Very gentle, and friendly and very easy ground manners. He is perfect in the arena and around the farm, but pulled quite a bit out on the trail. I don't know if he was just excited or if he would always be like that. He is very fat and healthy, and is up to date on all care. "
Chuck's owner is worried about being able to afford to feed him this winter, but currently SAFE has no available foster space. If you are interesting in fostering Chuck for SAFE, please let me know. We would also appreciate any donations of Senior feed for Chuck. Thank you!

Very sad news everyone. SAFE just got a message from the woman who rescued Chuck from the auction. This sweet old boy passed away a few months back but he passed peacefully and with people who loved him. Had Mehgan not gotten him away from the auction she found him at, he most certainly would have met with a very bad end. Thank you Mehgan for doing all you did for him. RIP Chuck...I hope you are running free in the next world.
